As all the op tanks it doesn't drive itself to victory, but in good hands they are a real pain.

But even without much skill its armor works well : I remember repeatedly bouncing at some distance on a side of one with my type 61 (258mm pen but not precise).

"Yes it is" implies your opinion of the tank right? I said that i personally don't think it's a good tank to each his own.

Objectively speaking it is a very good tank. It's different if you dislike the tank.

The whine about how OP the Defender/Object 252U only exists on the EU server.

On the RU server it is not regarded as OP (cynics might say that there is a reason for this).

WG only said that they might make the sale more rare on EU server (probably to keep the noise of the whine down) they specifically made no mention of not selling it regularly on the other servers.

Didn't they also say they aren't planning to sell it (at least on EU) untill the armor mechanics will be reworked, whatever that's supposed to mean or did I dream that

Wargaming already has a dying server on their hand and what do they decide to do: Sell a tank which completely ruins tier 6 to 8 gameplay...... I mean sometimes you really have to wonder what the mental capacity of some of the people in charge is with these kind of decisions....

Well,

Time to rebuy the TVP VTU, since that tank can kill the Defender easily

I would save your credits and get the Panther II. The TVP VTU is bound to be nerfed by WG because it is simply too OP when facing Defenders. Someone in WG's balancing department was sleeping on the job. While the Panther II is an excellent Defender hunter, it still doesn't have the corresponding reputation because only hipsters play it. I am not sure why. Maybe it is because the panther II is associated with the Nazi regime during World war II. Apparently this tank was just by the German armed forces during that era. Nobody knows for sure, it is all speculation at this point. I would love to refer to wikipedia, but we all know anyone can edit those pages. At this point in time wikipedia seems to suggest that the panther II was indeed used by Axis forces.

Anyhoo. I shouldn't post this, because the WG balance department actively reads this forum, but the panther II can also be successfully used to hunt down Defenders and destroy them.

use your free XP to get this tank and happy Defender hunting.

You need to understand that WG wants to make money and thats their NR1 priority. Why would they give a [edited]about the gameplay if they make a lot of money anyway??

Does it really ruin tier 6-8 gameplay.

I don't even see them that often. If you get into a full tier 8 game you usually see at least half the tanks being premium tanks. And they aren't all defenders. Usually it is a mixture of premium tanks, and often there is no defender to be found.

That is my biased observation.

I do always see a defender when I play the defender. Mine of course. But I don't play it much. it isn't really a fun tank to play.

Most of the arrows in WoT point towards short-term fixes for profit and satisfying certain player brackets, not improving the gameplay (balance, maps) and keeping overall customer satisfaction.

It's more of a problem in organized play, such as Team Battles and T8 Strongholds, where there are only other T8 tanks and the Defender is practically the ideal blend for organized attacks (armor/speed/damage per shot).

This is true, Löwes and Super Pershings are far more common.

While Defender is a very good tank, a hull down Löwe is basically kryptonite for it... especially if the Löwe players has brains enough to shoot at the cupolas.

I do not recall WG saying "until the armour etc". I merely recall them saying that it would be made available less frequently on EU.

I agree I haven't seen many of them. Why that is I'm not sure. Possibly due to the limited time it has been available to buy and I would also say MM too. The poor guys are probably in tier 10 games where they can slug it out with the other great success story of the WG balancing dept. The Type 5, you know because armour counts.

Yeah I really wish that Wargaming would go less for short term financial gain and more for long term game stability so we can all keep enjoying this game longer than it will remain with the current direction of "balancing".

oh yeah. I forgot about the team battles.

But the problem there is maybe the balance in team battles, not so much that the defender is so suited for team battles.

I better buy TVP VTU then, the best tank to counter Defenders.

While the defender is a very very good tank, this image is just plain bias: you show the defender head on from a lower angle. Ofc you won't hit the Cuppolas from there.

I absolutely agreee that this thing needs to be balanced and brought in line but while this won't happen soon I'd rather see it sold again to get a balance of "weapons" here. (rather give the players the opportunity to get it themselfs than letting the defenders once bought rampage around) Again I think it should be nerfed and balanced but as long as it won't happen I am at least pleased they sell it again.

p.s. and I will get one asap when it hits the EU premium shop.

This time if they do sell it on the EU, I am copping both the defender and 252U

Why both?

What are easy to hit? Did someone talk about Defender's cupolas, I know I didn't.

Löwe will load gold and it has nearly 300mm APCR pen... enough to go through turret or most everything that isnt autobounce angle while Defender cant literally do anything to a hulldown Löwe except shoot HE. While Defender is a very good tank, it does have situations where it isn't the greatest... just like all tanks.

Luckily most Löwe players are sheshul, so they will abandon their hulldown position if you back off.

Other tanks you need to avoid in a Defender is strangely enough decent KV-5 players at close range, KV-5 can shoot your cupolas easily, and has better DPM. Same with Libertes etc.
