Just had a thought recently,

Why do our tanks not have horns, Apparently in real life some, but not all tanks do have horns when moving around civilian and friendly areas the Leopard for instance.

Wouldn't it be great  to have novelty custom horns like La Cucaracha and the General Lee horn from dukes of hazard.

Which I remember was so popular in west London in the 70's & 80's

I would like to get horn, also to taunt enemies, after I take them out & when it switches to kill cam.

If War gaming ever implement this they owe me big-time

I want at a buff for all my tanks alone and preferential MM for me personally

:P

This was tested about five years ago, and test server proved that too many trolling opportunities existed so never went live.

One idea a player came up with to combat the abuse was to make the horn rechargeable by doing damage or something... like do you own HP in damage and get to toot your horn for 10 seconds... I dunno...

This matters...

If it has a setting to turn off. That's off by default. Then sure. As if not, I can just imagine how it would be during countdown or the first 30 seconds going out of base with 14 horns going off with a headset on. No thx.

Yes i think i should endeavor to do this more often, but seriously why do they not have a cooldown for pinging its pretty annoying and almost always done by a rusher noob

Or by re/ards in medium tanks who want a player in a heavy tank to spot for them.

I want loud speaker on my Sherman so when I go into battle I can play music, very loud. It kind of... calms me down.

I've found it works nicely to holler "Hoooot hoooot!" at the screen ...sometimes even other stuffsounds expletives ...besides... an extra button to keep track of when too holler or or not would be to difficult.  Those four WASD keys already give me enough of a headache ..

Why no horns on tanks in World of Tanks?

Because of all the annoying little trolls that will use that thing from start -> end of the battle.

That's why.

I'm real tanks, there's no audio way of knowing if there's any tanks near you what so ever. I know this because I've actually been in a fair few tanks for tank shows. WW2 reenactments & during my service. But, this game as invented proximity detection. Same thing if your in the middle of dense woodlands, not moving & a light tank in the middle of open field has the ability to detect you, while remaining invisible. Also, the commander is the spotter. Last time I checked, Humans only have 2 eye's in the front of our heads. We can only see in one direction. So how is it possible that a single tank can spot at the same time, any & all tanks within its view 360?

I think removing proximity detection will allow tanks remain hidden on the other side of houses waiting or on top of hills. Also changing how spotting works, so you can only spot tanks your gun is facing. Meaning light tanks will have to do more than just merely sat doing nothing to spot. Also prevents them detecting everything & firing at one.

Plenty of things that needs to change. But, you'll also get those who succeed using these stupid features & will resist & counter argument & even call you stupid for suggesting them.  Because they don't have a impartial opinion. It's like asking a CEO of a bank on his thoughts about capping bonus's. He or She will never give you an impartial opinion. Just one that benefits them!

No, gun/turret direction only doesn't work due to TDs/arty.

If you want to change it it needs to be the way the camera is looking for the commander. Driver should be able to spot forward from the hull and gunner forward from the turret.

edit: There are/were horns in AW right? And we had them in the WW1 mode.

But TD's dont always have hatches to spot & those that do only point forward not side or rear. But TD's aren't spotters unless the TD is just a mounted spg gun like the Grill or WT, RHM. As is, every tank, td has the same ability to spot other tanks depending on their view range. A light tank shouldn't be able to spot tanks any better than a heavy tank. All that should change is how visible that tank is. But this game is weird like that!

Horns would be awesome.

The ability to penetrate their armour when ramming would be great !!
