Hi folks

Let me start with a few statements of fact:

I'm not bashing the game, I'm not a great player, I only ever play(ed) in small time chunks so progression is always slow.

My problem at the moment is that I just don't have a reason to start up the game any more.  I've taken long breaks in the past and it might just be that it's time to take another one.  At the moment there are no lines that I really want to grind (was trying to Tiger II but I'm finding it painful) there are very few tanks that I want to play (E50 is about the only one) and I'm really not a good enough player to take out my IS-7 and Obj 140 to try and get better in them.  I don't have a premium account so I'll always need to use my premium tanks to generate credits to cover the losses at tier IX and X but I also don't really have any premiums that I enjoy all that much (Skorpion is OK and the T26E4 would be if only it was a little bit quicker).  I did try and learn to play light tanks but I'm really not very good at them so it's probably best for all concerned that I stop that little experiment!

Not sure if I should just pick a single tank and try and get better in it and get more fun out of the game because I could then play a more active roll in each battle.  There isn't really a new line I want to progress (unless there is a gem out there that I don't know about) and grinding up to higher tiers would take too long.  I don't spend much time online and it's unpredictable so I don't do clan related stuff or game modes other than Random.

If you had this list of tanks (listed in order of my WN8 in them although some have very few games played so probably meaningless) in you garage what would you be playing?

T-29, Strv m/42, Skorpion G, T26E4, T29, IS-7, KV-1, Pz. IV H, T69, 59-16, VK 45.03, IS-3, Rudy, T-10, T71 DA, StuG IV, E 50,

You should only play if you find the game fun. Otherwise you should quit.

If you don't find it fun, then there is no reason to play.

And I will not say that getting better = more fun in WoT.

In many cases, I think being a clueless noob at WOT can generate more fun then being the besterest player there is.

In general, I think the T-34-85 is quite fun.

But it gets ruined by the new MM which draws the fun out of a lot of sub T9 tanks.

I mean if you can't find the fun anymore, or motivation or even anything to grind. Then you really only have two options. Try and find the fun in one of your current tanks and stick to those. Or take a longer break until you feel like having a reason to start it up again. Even if it's just out of curiosity of recent changes.

Personally the T71DA and Type 64 have been fun of late for me. Cromwell, T29, Rudy, T-28 F30, Sentinel and even the m/42 never fails to give me a few giggles now and then. Just take a few out, see if anything peeks your fun meter again. As if none of them do, and you don't feel like grinding anything. Then a longer break for something different might be in order.

I went through a purple patch about 1 year ago and really had no interest in playing my account. Just didn't see any goals I wanted to work towards.

So I started another account and just went through the PMs again. I found that fun for the most part but then got frustrated at the 260 missions a second time. However by that time I had found some other stuff that piqued my interest so I went back to my main account again.

Short answer:  Then don't.

Long answer: Then don't play.

Even longer answer: All above this post.

or

Player another game you have more fun with and come back later. The game will still be there.

I always start new lines, that makes it fun. Oh, and don't care about the results, just play with the tanks which you find the most beautiful, it adds a lot to the experience. I also paint them, add some flags on them to make it nicer.

But in general, if you don't enjoy a game like this, then just change to another one. There is the simulator(ish) War Thunder, which is quite ok, but I think WoT is better if you just want to have fun and don't care about historical accuracy at all costs.

If you are struggling to find enjoyment in this game, or any game for that matter, than it is healthier to move on to another game or leisure activity.

Or if you like what WoT once meant for you in terms of enjoyment, take a break again, stick around on the forums and hope things improve in the direction you would like to see them improve on. Install the #CT once in a blue moon to keep up.

Than you can always say your definitive far wells after it doesn't evolve into the direction that would give back some enjoyment you had lost.

I would say that you already have quite a nice collection of tanks to have fun in 59-16, cromwell, type64, t29 and the E50.. Maybe a real derp tank, like a KV2, would be nice to add to the mix. We take them regularly out in platoon just to have fun.

Joining a clan in general could also restore the fun in the game.. Not a competitive clan but like ours for example, just a bunch of guys that enjoy playing together in platoons or just to have someone on Teamspeak to talk to about things happening in the game, new lines etc..

If you don´t find it fun don´t play. Since the new MM I found myself playing less and less. Lately I hardly play WoT at all.

Try Subnautica and Stellaris. Good games!

You seem to have done the same thing I did, meaning progressing further in the Soviet tech tree than other lines. That maybe part of the problem, as an.. let's say average skilled player I myself found the Soviet tanks most 'friendly' and fun in terms of playability. Trying out any of the other nations has been progressively harder and less fun to do.

Skill factor is one thing, but don't overlook the necessity of having very advanced crews as you go to the higher tiers. Well experienced crews with the right skill/perk combination will make a difference. Your own abilities, combined with the tank and crew stats is what your performance will be based on and is also which (along with luck) will determine how engaging and fun you would find playing WoT.

Without premium time (sometimes even with it) I struggle on the higher tiers. Without premium time about the highest in terms of regular tanks that I should play is tier 7. Apart from the Soviet tanks, the American T29 is one of the better options available there.

If you can still find it interesting and challenging to play the mid tiers, meaning fun as well, I would suggest you try focusing on crew training on a few select vehicles only. Most ideally the tanks that you have noticed that you do well and enjoy their play style.

Whatever you decide, the best of luck! :great:

Find 2 or 3 tanks you like ... stick with them and don't play all kinds of vehicles from garage.  That should increase both fun, wr and wn. gl and hf :)

Thanks everyone for the thoughts.

As I mentioned I have taken long breaks in the past so even if I do that again it's not like I'm quitting the game or anything final like that.

I think the plan will be to pick about 3 tanks that I enjoy the most, have the better stats and also decently trained crews.  That way at least I give myself the best chance of finding some fun.

Despite an overall inability to be a good light tank player I seem to do ok in the 59-16 and it does have a full girl crew.  Also at tier VI i can run it in profit even with a couple of 'gold' rounds for emergencies.

I've not taken the T29 out for a while and I remember it as one of the tanks that I didn't feel useless in when facing higher tiers.  It's also only tier VII so should not drain credits so one less thing to worry about when playing.

To those two I'll add the T-34-85M or Rudy as I do have a decent Russian Med crew and both those are premium tanks and will keep me in credits nicely.

If that doesn't work then it's probably time for another break.

Wot no arty?

I find playing the class that should not be mentioned very soothing.

Raining destruction from on high and afar....

Oh well it was only a thought:)

Don't play a game which you don't enjoy, especially if you are playing to grind.

take up a challenge: buy back the Tiger I and 3-mark it.

that's what I just did, and it feels really great !

usually during x3 I would just play all my tanks that need XP, but not this time. I concentrated super-serious on getting that mark and played only tiger I for four days.

it's a riveting challenge, and as a non-premium player you have a really fair shot at it with the Tiger I because of that tank's high pen, you don't need to shoot premium ammo to make good damage.

While I enjoy playing the game, I get the most fun out of platooning with a couple of clanmates. We tend to play O-I, KV-2, and Jumbo Shermans, Hellcats and the like. We enjoy the banter, the "derping" and we have fun. Playing solo, I choose Matilda, Wolverine, Hellcat and similar, and I have fun. At other times, I might undertake grinding another tank, but I dont let it become a chore.

If the game ever becomes a chore then I will quit and look elsewhere.
