1. Why is it in the game at all?

2. Why is it almost never moderated?

1. Some of us enjoy general chat to have a confersation with others.

2. Risk of too many chat bans.

I witnessed a conversation about Brexit once, someone was saying Tories need to listen to young people. So, there's that.

There are some people willing and attempting to have a conversation on eu1 as well. But the amount of noise is too damn high.

It's just a huge puke bucket for all the "special" players, so that they don't puke their nonsense into the actual gamechat. And that's a good thing I'd say.

General chat is fine so was cross team chat problem are the players that misuse it.

We had map pinging which is abused.

General chat also abused

Then there is the radial menu which is the most useful but underused function.

Problem with them is 15 players 15 opinions about whats important.

Rule should be if you are not 100% certain say nothing.

Do not spam any of the communication methods.

If you just want to whine about something don't bother no one is or should be interested.

I guess it's not working as intended, gamechat is full of puke, too.

At least general chat could be moderated, in theory.

It is moderated. Its when they get banned they come crying and wailing to these very forums

Been like that for eight solid years and it makes you weary

Trust me

When I used (server hickups/death, asking random things), it's mostly moderated - which means that the mods basically ban every third player for either writing gibberish, spamming or insulting random people, WG or... everyone else.

I must say that I have never used it - just seems to be a dumping ground for the angry little people to vent their spleens.

I think Bulldog is still allowed in general chat.

You guys say it is mostly moderated, but that is just not true, in my experience.

It is moderated sporadically at best, and never during prime time. Which is why people are so surprised when they do get banned.

I get the same feeling looking at the tab that say "General Chat" as I get when I think about malware.

This. I'm one of them, btw.

In EU 2 people talk about most of the things WG doesn't want us to:

  • Religion
  • Politics
  • Marriage/relationships
  • Social Issues
  • Historical events

Bold = most frequent.

Apart from the typical "that which shall not be named" and things that belong in No. I will not describe those sites, you can actually have a normal conversation with sane human beings.
