How good or bad is he?

I like Tier V a lot and I'm planning to get the STB. I had it once but ragesold it.

And which skills should I grind to the STB?

Its pretty bad as you neither have mobility or armour, the gun has trash handling and if that wasn't enough it has worse depression than the tech tree chi nu at 6.5.

It is not great. Fishbob covers the main points.

I got the Chi-Nu ”Kai” 3 marked...

Pros:

  • Good alpha
  • Good base accuracy (we’ll get there later)
  • Very strong mantlet that however is relevant in only minority of the battles

Cons:

  • No armor
  • No mobility
  • Frontal engine
  • Bad DPM
  • Rather poor gold pen
  • Poor depression
  • Bad gun handling
  • Velocity is okay by tier 5 standards, but still bad
  • Due to two facts above, the accuracy is a lie
  • Can get tracked AND engine destroyed with one shot
  • Doesnt even make credits; profitability feels almost exactly the same as other tier 5s
  • Kai doesnt stand for improved, it stands for autism and it clearly can be seen here

3.5/10

It has alpha, and doesnt have bad view range and camo so it can still do work (having a great view range is a gigantic advantage at that  tier). Because of its flaws, you want to snipe a lot with it (and its not even good at it); I.E you play it like a turreted TD with gun barely better than mediums. Its laughable at brawling basically anything that isnt a Skoda T24. And then the gun is pretty trollish due to handling and everyhing. Its unpleasant to play.

Its pretty damn garbage and I would avoid buying it, even with the low price cost. Japanese MT line itself is overall just bad with powercreeped end reward so I wouldnt bother with the entire Japanese MT line at all.

It's not too bad, just don't play it like a conventional medium tank, it is somewhere between a support medium and a TD. The gun can be good if you give it an extra half second to aim fully.

If it's as good as the standard Chi-Nu, don't bother to get it. Chi-To and Chi-Ri, on the other hands can give you some fun while training your crew.

It's like they are making other mediums crapand noncompetitive but adding more and more diverse and powerful soviet meds to the fray, soon they will have almost every play style possible other than autoloaders....who knows maybe even that will happen

It's a pure support medium. So it's you don't like those as dpm is not it's main strengths. Stay clear. It's more or less like its normal tier 5 counter part. Only the turret is a bit stronger. It has great pen as far as tier 5 prem meds go. Dispersion is meh. Mobility is meh at best to. But it gets the job done.

But as far as tier 5 premiums go it's not bad. Toss on some binocs, play from the 2nd line and you have a capable tank even in +2 games. As it's far from the worst tier 5 premium I own, but it's not the best either. But I still enjoyed it. I got over 500 games in mine as it did train every medium crew from tier 6 to X.

This ^

Thats a good review, i got one when it first came into the premium shop, ready to train medium crews, but the line looked so bad i didn't bother, it was fun to snipe with at the start, but the maps were already starting to turn in to brawl only back then, then got worse

so i wouldn't bother getting it now

Okay son,listen to me.

Do you play TDs?

Do you like red-line?

Do you like to kemp boosh?

Then this tank is for you!

...but seriously,I love this tank and I feel stupid for not having it 3-marked yet.

Talk about 3000 WN8 after 700 battles.

And since i love to kemp boosh, all my Japs are at least 3k wn8 (except ChiRi,...because gameplay exceptions and STA-2...smh)

I would use normal Chi-Nu,but it's autopen for everything...

and... Kai in hulldown and angled can actually bounce things.

The Chi-Nu is a blessing compared to the Chi-Nu-Kai

It's one of those mediums that does not play like a typical medium. I did quite okay in it myself, and it did help to train my Japanese medium crew. Though later the Sta-2 did take over that role.

Personally I find the Chi-nu-kai suffering from some lack-lustrous handling, and I cannot be bothered to take it out for a ride.

And yeah, my grinding is stuck at the tier 8 Sta-1, as I'm not really feeling like playing that medium line any further.

If i achieve constant 3kWN8 during 700 battles, probably means something doesn't it?

I think i need to make it visible in my forum signature that all my major tanks run at least 4 skill crews at minimum.

You get high WN8 on it because it has very low expected WN8, after they changed the WN8 values based on the expected DPG values of each tank. It's easy to pad WN8 on that thing. If anything, that is a sign that it's a bad tank, not a good tank.

I have 3 marked the Chi-Nu Kai by myself, and I can say that it's horseshit. The only reason why it can work is that it has some capability to redline and anything that can redline at lower tiers can do some work. But that's the only thing it can do properly, and tanks like T67 and Wolverine are massively better at that.
