For the last three weeks I have been conducting an experiment - I tuned off the tab that prevented me from seeing 'non-historical' elements just for giggles to see what, if any, monstrosities have been created.

Asides from the occasional Xmas paintjob, I haven't yet seen one bright pink Maus or any other such abomination.

Why?

We were reliably informed that the customization changes were 'what the community wanted'

So, I'm curious if it's just me or has anyone else seen, or indeed created, things they wish they hadn't?

Screenshots of the worst would be Super Smashing Great:medal:

I dont understand why people cry over cosmetics more than they do about tank balance, tiny maps or minimal functional mechanics.

guess brains are in short order.

Who is 'crying'?

This is simple curiosity.

Why?

Maybe people weren't stupid enough to paint their tank in a hideous fashion knowing that they're probably the only one who has to sit there and look at it? Though to be fair, considering how many people I see with mismatched camo patterns or only painting the hull, I doubt they really care about that.

Maybe they're just embarrassed?

People who consistently whinge about camos on tanks like the liberte and patriot, especially when they were first released.

Shame that the colours are behind a paywall but whatever.

i could careless what other peoples tanks look like.

Well I had a look at the matches you've played and since Jan 25 that's about 200 matches and about 100 of those are in high enough tiers that you would come across tanks that could be painted like clown tanks, so not exactly a huge sample. I have however seen quite a few clown tanks, but they ain't as common as I suspected they would be, but when they make paint available for all tanks I guess we'll see a lot more since there are a lot more people playing low/mid tier tanks thank high tiered ones.

Take the date back to the 16th and you're almost there:hiding:

We shall see how things pan out, but I have a suspicion you're right - once this hits Tier III, it's going to get VERY ugly.

I doubt many people got your gold-plated Grille skin. Mine still gets played regularly.

Thanks once again for making that.

Des, you're still awesome. (Even if you are a horrible Dinger-abandoning GLOworm)

I do paint some of mine...a wannabe type 59 gold...a communistic red defender(252u), an all black jageroo...olive hull with bright green mantlet and gun e3 etc...some fun combinations.

I did not make use of the filter to deliberately see how bad it would get. I think I saw a purple IS-7 once, and that was about it. The only other thing you occasionally see is the cheapsters who put camouflage on their hulls but not their turrets, but even that is pretty rare. I guess people do want their tanks to look cool after all.

I do like that we have more options with the given camuflages, as how the spots are layed out and that some have different color schemes available. Too bad most camos aren´t transparent, so you cant really experiment with the base colors that much.

I don't see that many "clown" tanks on tier 8 prems or on tier X. Not many used the non historical colors as I expected.

But I guess the reasons is simple. It's off by default. So why pay for something that almost no one will see? And it's limited to one tier and one type of tank on a different tier. So not widespread vs what tanks ppl play.  As there are many tier 8 premiums that have use the historical colors tho under their camo.

Personally I've only bought paint for the UK to get the Deathstar all black. And some red/black combo on my Russian tier 8 prem med. Not bought any non historical paint. Tho I'm tempted after seeing how crazy I could get my WZ-111 with their transparent camo.

Yeaaaah... I see what's happened here... you've mistakenly thought that WG listens to anything that EU community says or does.

For WG, EU is FAKE NEWS!

I have only seen the red and blue tanks that appear to have "historic" camo.
