As the title says i was going to put improved torsion bars on my obj 257 and saw that the improved bars is no longer an option. Good move WG.

You can skip the tracks anyway, unless you equip something.

Funny thing I've noticed that the red weight reading doesn't seem to mean anything. I've been able to equip heavier guns etc. without researching better tracks with some tanks.

Edit: It could mean that it slows the tank down, is that what happens?

Red means its heavier than the one you have installed. Nothing else. Same way as green means it has better pen or accuracy.

Means its heavier, I think...

It should warn us before we research the part...

I always use the suspension equipment, so I can skip this part on my heavy grinds. If its a keeper, I grind it last...

PS. Late post

I always check these things before I buy a tank, to choose which modules to research first. Also I use https://eu.wargaming.net/id/openid/redirect/?key=qWVNBk1T9HPeUwfSCZQ3PIWTBJJ97kMT WoT Wiki for tips for researching. This helps a lot, to choose if you can mount all equipment you want and also being able to mount the top gun, for example, without having to research the tracks.

I always thought it was to heavy to install too, crappy wg ui, it should be orange if its heavier but usable.

The really dumb thing is that this is already available in the client. If you preview a tank before you buy it, you can click through each of the upgrade options and if it's too heavy to fit without suspension upgrades or is incompatible with the current configuration, it tells you right there next to the piece of equipment.

Once you buy the tank, however, you have to check weights against the load limit figures and calculate it for yourself.

They aren't available on quite a few other tanks.  It's nothing new.

A few patches ago (quite a few) it did tell you if it was too heavy, but that was lost when they changed the garage UI.

Once upon a time, I think red meant to heavy to install with current tracks.

Before they "improved" the user interface.
