While playing 1.0 I noticed that the terrain on some maps is much more flat than before.

So is that a new way to indirectly buff soviet tanks even more, as their only drawback was bad gun depression?

... or is this just developers' lack of time, so in a time-pressure they just rushed out working maps?

No need for conspiracies, when explanation could be simpler...

I think my explanation is simpler and more realistic than yours.

How are you playing on the new maps? Is the sandbox server up?

We have many tanks in wot that don't have gun depression, what would you do? Flatten maps? Give gun depression? Tell everyone who likes those tanks "aaahhhh, go to hell!!!" ?

No, id tell them that their lack of gun depression is the disadvantage to all the other advantages that their tank gets...

Thankfully it's a buff for dozens of tanks.

These tanks get other advantages.

Many American tanks have good gun depression and get bad hull armor in exchange.

If WG removes the need/use for gun depression, tanks that rely on it will get weaker and soviet tanks will get stronger. That's my view on it.

agree completely. What the game needs is more angles to fight from. More hills etc. Less corridor brawling. So pretty much like redshire.

Yes flat terrain is better for tanks with bad gun depression. However this is out of context. Presumably every new 1.0 map is not just open fields....

And flat has other disadvantages, like a complete lack of hard cover, meaning you are sniper-bait.

Knowing that LFP is the most common weackspot, that's a good news.

No hulldown cover beats having hulldown-cover that every tank with -5/6 gun depression can use; which I clearly remember was a complaint a few years ago.

Here we go. The Russians have invaded the American government and rigged the elections and now they are making the maps in wot flat. Who will save us?

After going through most of the maps on CT the most notable changes do seem the be the flattening. That and vast open flat spaces. Haven't actually played any battles only been in Training room so unsure about the impact on gameplay but in my opinion this will lead to a new era or bush camping TDs. Hope I'm wrong but right now I'm quite skeptical about the gameplay changes this will bring.

Dear 4ztec,

Put you tinfoil hat away. I cannot believe for the life of me, there is a Russian tank buff/bias in this game.

Regards

Lol Redshire is corridors left and right. The hill punishes those who dare to move out of the cover the 1 and 0 line provide.

After unnecessary hills and ditches, here comes the flat maps. Honestly i don't think it's that bad.
