Why Wargaming releases Pref. MM tanks if they were ''mistake''?

Once upon a time, there was Jagdtiger 88... Mighty, scary, serious killing machine, but nowadays; nothing more than a punching bag for Skorpions, Patriots, Defenders, Libertés... A tank that long forgotten by Wargaming since its removal in patch 9.10 from in game shop.

Some time ago Sergey Burkatovskiy (aka SerB) was confounded by introducing a one-tier spread in MM. Now it’s clear that introducing preferential matchmaking was a mistake. There are problems with some of those vehicles, but we’re readying them for a rebalance. Perhaps with some tanks, which will be unfit for rebalancing, we’ll propose a buyback.

Yet returned to in-game purchase with 9.22...

SerB's statement contradicts with return of JgTig88, a tank that is balanced around Tier 7.5 with its low penetration gun, sluggish mobility with trash armour for tier 8 and above, except superstructure (can be pen with Premium ammo anyway) now only matches with all tier 8 or 9 games. This tank took biggest hit with new MM template; now being top tier is near impossible.

Why this tank doesn't receive buffs along with another once underpowered T54 prot.?

Typically a case of hindsight 20/20. Although with Wargaming, it's less hindsight and far more shortsight.

It's still not in the premium store for real money. Only in the tech tree for gold. And we have a trade function come right after it. So go figure.

I suspect it's not gonna stay around for long, since they said "added it to rotation". So I won't be surprised if other pref MM tanks make a short return later for gold only as well. For how long a "rotation" is? Who knows. Could be one patch, could be months. I guess we will find out soon enough.

Then again, they never did stop to sell anyone of them again. One of the removed pref MM tier 5's is in the store now "T14". So they still sell pref MM tanks. Just less of them, and more rarely even tho they removed them from the tech tree.

Well in traditional WG fashion they release something, then after a while when the outcome pretty much resulted in what everyone but WG predicted they realize shite we must buff the side armor of the IS-7 and nerf a tank that's already perform like crap. Now they've realized the pref MM don't work so rather than buffing those tanks to at least make them somewhat competitive they buff something that didn't needed to be buffed in the first place.

It's a bit of a fallacy.

Pref MM tanks did work, back when the tech trees weren't full of imaginary/prototype/paper nonsense. The trade off for your money was  a handicap (usually a gimped gun) but favourable MM. Consequently, you played them for credits and crew training in randoms, but rarely anything else.

Moreover, they were rare - I remember people back in the day shouting abuse in chat because you were in a prem tank. You could play a SuperP or JT88 all night, and not see another premium. So, they were rarely a problem because there just weren't enough about.

Then WG learned monetisation through unbalanced premiums and it all went out the window. I've had Tier VIII games recently with 10 premiums a side. Not quirky oddball stuff like SuperP either, but borderline carry wagons like Defenders, Patriots, etc

The true statement is that pref prems didn't work for WG's bank balance.

it must be JgTiger 8.8 10.5 CM for best play or it must be tier 7
