Call me salty, but i still feel like this "historical accuracy" cannot really be implimented into this game with WG pulling tanks like Obj 705 and Obj 257 literally out of closed archives of rejected tank prototypes/blueprints. They just ruin other tanks for the "historical accuracy" and keep pulling these russian blueprint tanks out of thin air. If we are going to have imaginary tanks in the game, why not change some of the vehicles back to like they used to be, like the FV304 being all small and cute.

Historical accuracy was never much of a thing, especially after the whole 'historical battles' 'fiasco

What makes you think that WG is going for any kind of historical accuracy? They have always been selective at best and the last time I remember them changing anything for "historical accuracy" was when they nerfed the Tiger II and Jagdtiger lower plates to 100mm from 120mm. That was years ago. Not that the tanks deserved the nerfs, even at the time.

And since when has this game "strived for historical accuracy"?

This is a nonsense thread before it even starts.

Please point to a link where you have read WoT is about historical accuracy, or did you just invent it?

OP is somewhat belatedly salty about the FV304 being made bigger because they messed up the model originally.

The only thing accurate about this game is the skins of tanks. Everything is is a complete fiction. There's no hard evidence to prove that 355mm armour is really 355mm armour in the games mechanics.

You want an historical accurate game? This was never it, nor has it ever claimed to be it. It's a "what if" game. As in what if the US made that tank to counter the Tiger vs that one. Or if Germany did push that tank vs this late war etc. Not a history sim. As the historical mode is one of the biggest fail in the game so far. Most of tanks in the game as is are real, but their setup is not. Tiger 1 is one of them. And if the game was 100% historical actuate. Most of the tanks would be gone, some of the nations would be up to tier 5 vs X.

And let's be honest. No one would have played the game from 2011/2012 until now if they had added 10 tanks since then.

... well that's deep. And yet you still play it. But what about the guns then? Is their pen fiction too vs your armor? Just thought I would ask.

Are we actually sure what OP means? Heck, is he sure what hea means himself?

To me it doesn't sound like he is salty about Wargaming not going for historical accuracy, but rather that they are, or are in certain cases. E.g. implementing something based in reality is more important than balanced, or even interesting, tanks.

Funny, because of historical accuaracy Tiger 2 and JT lost their engines, 860 HP if my memory is intact.

Putting "historical accuracy" and "Wargaming" in one sentence.

I rate this joke 7/10, it wasn't a bad try.

just on...their last clip about incoming Italian Tech Tree..

if you pay attention a bit you can notice that they say clearly that they make tanks as realistic as possible...

so..?

Again. Wrong.

What he says is "we have made these tanks as historically accurate as possible"

What this means is, "we cant get them historically accurate so, for balance reasons, they've been tweaked. Like every other tank in game.

this game would die very quickly if historical accuracy was a thing.

Your grasp of the English language must be very poor, if in any way you translate that sentence to mean "we strive for historical accuracy"

IIRC that was before the Historical Battle game mode introduction. Together with some other buffs, including, if I am not mistaken, the engine fires and some terrain resistances.

In any case I never really bought the whole thing. For those who are really into it, and I don't count myself in, it was obvious that this game always had historical inconsistencies, coupled with the fact that sooner or later, more and more prototypes would have to be introduced. I guess WG figured out later that justifying changes with historical accuracy did expose them unnecessarily to criticism, perhaps rightly so, since it was being used selectively when convenient rather than being a game design choice.

It's obvious there are some limits to what they can do (EU and Anime tanks comes to mind), but IMO the game does not ‘lie’ in that aspect – it is inspired by, perhaps based on rather than a strict simulation of the vehicle combat of that era, allowing for the necessary game balance tweaks. For instance, I believe you’d never argue that historical accuracy was ever more important that tweaks regarding the MM matchups some tanks face, starting with gun options.

What did you expect when they watched "Battle of the Bulge" and thought it was a documentary?

Yes, but this feature is not even near of the worst flaw of this "game".

"Historical accuracy" is just some scapegoat WG uses to justify their dubious balancing decisions.

It really means nothing.
