I've just had a session on the 1.0 Beta server and the map changes have me highly concerned.

Most of them now offer very little cover with the two most egregious offenders being Fisherman's Bay and the once great Prokhorovka.

South spawn on Fisherman's Bay, 10 seconds in to the game and I was spotted just about in the spawn area. How you ask? A scout that rushed to the now flat middle section. Not too long after being spotted I was hit by a combination of arty and an aggressive Conway. If you don't drive a fast tank on this map have fun getting anywhere with health intact. My game was pretty much done within 100m of my spawn.

Next up is Prokhorovka. Somebody thought it was a good idea to flatten the entire middle piece so redline bot TDs can utterly dominate the game. Lights were being nuked - on both sides - by the armada of TDs camping the redlines behind each spawn. I could at lease hide my Conqueror's hull enough to avoid taking massive damage every time, but I also found it almost impossible to go unspotted. TDs don't need scouts on this map anymore. Binos, camo net, bot on the redline and profit. The depressions near the east road are also horribly exposed now. These were areas where one could hide a heavy. Not anymore. I witnessed a T-44 struggling to hide himself there and that is a fairly compact tank.

Prokhorovka is traditionally a map where the passive team is quite easily defeated because they tend to lose the vision game. On 1.0, it seems as if the he team that tries to take the initiative is taken to pieces by campers.

Erlenberg, aside from the new central corridor, is now redline friendly as well. The east road, once a place where you could take up multiple different hulldown positions and be in cover? Good luck. Wide open and it was very engaging to see an FV4005 get to the corner within minutes and nuke a T-54.

Lakeville, so far, seems to be the only map that has addressed the problem of tanks being slaughtered early on. The crossing to the city from the south spawn now has a depression and foilage for the players.

They're all flattened out with cover removed to help give more russian bias to blind meds with no depression

Well can you blame them. Players have been complaining about corridors for ages. Now it's to open suddenly. Well at least it's not every map. As all 3 of my most hated maps are gone in 1.0. One of them might make a return. So I'm not complaining either way.

Good, the maps used to be great open spaces where TDs could do their thing, then over the years WG gradually turned them all into hilly corridors to favour light tanks. So it sounds like a great change.

that's nice, did you come to that conclusion yourself or were you feeling lazy and jumped on the nearest bandwagon with no idea of where it was going......

Give one other conceivable reason, just one.

Would indeed appreciate more cover on maps ... and some dips and lumps spread around ... at least if most maps should offer some fun for all tiers/classes

People have been complaining about corridors on maps like Abbey, Mountain Pass, Arctic Region, Himmelsdorf, Charkov, Paris etc.

People have NOT been complaining about corridors on Prokhorovka, Erlenberg or Fisherman's Bay.

OP gave example from the latter three, not the former bunch of maps.

WG have changed the latter three, not the former bunch.

So whatever your point was, it missed the target since WG didn't listen to community about removing corridors. Because WG didn't remove corridors.

Contestant for the most stupid statement not only of the year, but the millennium... Obviously corridor maps favor light tanks...

but you didn't give any, you asked a question and made an insinuation, no practical reasons were given. Does that seem clever to you now?

Most maps I've been on in 1.0's test actually had MORE cover... (bushes, trees, both thicker than before) I haven't been on all of them though.

Can i use your post to say my 2 cents? :)

I don't know the logic behind adding or removing bushes in some of the new maps! Some maps like Fjords got its middle gutted and squares B,C and D on lines 5 and 6 looks like a football field. Murovanka on the other hand got very thick bushes on both sides of the forest. Fisherman's bay middle road is completely naked and apparently one team can take control of the middle cause it is flat with houses as cover. On Erlenberg both sides lost the middle hill, now the castle stands alone with flat ground before and after it.

P.S: Your avatar is really funny.

Newer tanks with better armor + less places to hide on redesigned maps = more exposure to the premium ammo = more milking of players = more MONEY for WG.
