As the chart below suggests, there is little benefit from moving up from VI to VII and VII to VIII (GWP and GWT may be the exception). When I posted a similar question some time ago, some argued that the next gun up (VI to VIII and VII to IX) makes it worth it. I question this, however, because of the very long time it takes to accumulate the XP and free XP to move through the tiers and obtain the top SPG and it's top gun. The DPM and WN8 values in the chart are from vbaddict. The speed and gun arc values are based on my current configurations.

I can agree that there seems no advantage to moving up the tiers, I have the M12, Lorr 50 and the SU14-1. The SU I got for the top gun so in time get to experience the 1000+ hit point shells without having to buy a whole SPG, just 32000 xp to go (of 64000), and I'll have the gun,

I recently got my first T8, the FV207. I was a bit shocked to lose credits in games, not just in defeats, (my T7's can lose a little), but even if I'm low placed in a win! The standard of play seems little better than T5 or T6, still leaving vast swathes of the map wide open, and being shocked when the enemy cap take the arty out and surround them. Plus the behaviour in chat is just as bad, if anything, worse!

The AMX 13F3 is a cracking gun for rushing about and I recently had great fun ramming a scout that came to get me. But, in spite of all this I am driven to get a T9 and 10. I have no timescale for this however, and the experience with the T8 has inspired me to buy both my Hummell M44 back, real money earners, but ones I mistakenly sold when "moving up"!
