So I would like to start playing a Light Tank line, but I don't know which ones are the least "painful" in the sense that I have no experience in the role almost at all.

I mostly play brawly mediums and heavies. Being an autoloader assassin interests me, but I've read that the Batchat line isn't good right now, dunno if that's true. Any recommendations? The reason I'm starting to play the line is to complete the campaign missions.

I recommend France or Russia. The Frenchies have autoloaders and great camo values. The Russians are fast, stealthy and often have some troll armor.

Avoid the Americans. At high tiers they're just bad because they don't have camo value which is the only advantage LTs have over mediums.

No idea about China but looks quite decent as well.

The premium light tanks are all pretty good.

US light tanks line has arguably the best regular light in the game - T71 DA.

That's a fair point but everything after that is just meh. I guess the T49 with derp can be worth owning for some people but I think as general lines the French and Russian ones have more to offer.

T37 is also a fine American tank but Type 64 is probably just better and makes money.

I'm really enjoying the MT-25 at the moment, but I'm pretty much a light tank pro... so might not be good for you.

It is.

For more lulz, just compare 59-16 with Type 64. There just isn't even a competition.

Tier 10 lights are quite bad. Lt-100 and amx 13 105 are quite ok, rest are UP. Tier 9:n and lower are quite ok for all nations.  Russians are always safe choise.

Thanks for the replies. I'm now deciding between French and Russian. Probably French, because I know what I'm supposed to do on an autoloader assassin, but I'm fairly clueless about 100% active scouting duty.

Go French.

From the ELC onwards there isn't really a bad one, and although the ELC has been nerfed it's still fine to play.

With the autoloaders their playstyle is similar and so you build on your experience as you move up the tiers. I find the 13 90 more fun than the 13 105 because of MM for tier X and that extra round seems to make a difference.

No matter what nation you decide on, the Type 64 is so worth getting. I bought mine just a few days ago, and have regretted since that I did not get it way, way sooner. Right now at 101 games, and 66% WR. If you know how to play a light tank, you will love it. It is seriously broken at tier 6, and untouchable at that since it is a prem tank.

(I would expect WG to pull it from sales soon almost due to an E25-effect, and predict that it will happen at 1.0. But do note that this is speculation only, I have no hard facts supporting this.)

No it is not. Sadly enough. At least not for us who knew it when it still was the real deal. :(

As sombody who is just getting into light tanks, I enjoyed the Chinese a lot. They can play a bit more like downsized mediums which is easier to get into than pure scouts. And the Type 64 is an absolutely awesome crew trainer, and quite a cheap one at that.

However I just unlocked the tier 8, so I cant tell how tiers 8-10 actually play. They look decent on paper though. And the tier 10 seems like the best light tank to ram-crush paper tanks, if that´s something that´s fun for you.

No line is good and they all end in misery. some have a tank or 2 that are worth grabbing tho usualy.

American: T71 DA. T49 Derp.

China: WZ-132 and WZ-131.

German: Luchs. Leopard. PZ1C.

French: Autoloaders are all pretty good if you can manage the timing. 13 75. BC12t(many hate it...i seen it do good). 13 90.

I played all light tanks before the changes. only ones i kept was the T54LW (why this exist when T54 is better? i just want the funny speedster that is T-100) and T49 Derp. only other LT's i got are premiums as they are the only ones worth playing.

It was my first tier V tank and it was certainly more fun to play back in the day. But in terms of the question posed it now provides a better foundation for the following French light tanks.

If you play it with the 360 turret then the nerfed speed with the tier V gun you get 1664 DPM with rammer and vents. In comparison to 1167 DPM with the tier VI gun which reduces your turret rotation from 360.

The tier VI AMX 12t still only has 1215 DPM and that's with vents and the tier VI gun.

So the tier V ELC has +400 DPM on the tier VI 12t, and it's the same speed, and roughly the same gun handling although it isn't an autoloader.

Whilst as an individual tank it's not as much fun as the old version, I think it's now better as a tank to progress through to the tier VI French light tank.

It's a shadow of what it was, and the only thing that's bothering me they messed with the mobility of the tank. I would rather they  remove the 90 mm gun and give back it's mobility.

All in all it's still a playable tank with the 75 mm pew pew gun, and can win games abusing that great camo if you pimp out VR in such low tiers, it's just no wear near as fun to drive as it was before the changes.

I totally get your point. I just miss the li'll bugger.

Me too. I played it when I had no idea about Wn8 or anything. Just loved driving around and spotting stuff, causing mayhem. Managed to get one MOE with something like 300 Wn8 back in 2013

I've played it a bit since the nerf and I do have to forget the old one and just play it as is. I personally have found the 360 turret and the tier V gun have made it tolerable, and it has caused some real problems for the enemy. I think if I go for the tier VI gun I'll just compare it too much with the old one.

When you put your foot down on the new one it feels like the engine has been replaced with an asthmatic pit pony.

First I went up the German line... After the catastrophic RU251 in tier IX role, ended up with Rhm Pzwg whose only purpose is to feed the HP to enemy tanks, I guess. Was very frustrated. The tank is simply unplayable!

Then I decided to try the French line. Now I have every tank from tier VII AMX 13 75 to the king itself - AMX 13 105. All Have Female crews, camo and emblems bought with gold. I even bought EVEN 90 to train their crews. If AMX 13 57f shows in the premium store, I'll buy that as well. I will name my son - AMX 13! THAT'S HOW GOOD THEY ARE!
