Hey,

You want it as a visual only? Or as an effect. As in it reduces view range etc. Console has it, but it has zero effect on view range, and makes it harder to aim on targets at med to long range at times. As you hardly see anything but a silhouette. So at times you don't really know what way he is facing or at what angle to know if you will bounce or not. So personally I hope it's limited and reduced as it's been up to now.

Well on consoles weather looks awesome. Shame PC doesnt have this, so I was wondering If WG are planning to introduce it to PC version.

As much as I like the idea of the visual aspect of weather effects I'm not so sure I'd like them implimented as part of a game mechanic (I'm bad enough as it is!), So a yes from me for cosmetic effects that add atmosphere but not sure how well they could integrate them into the game without it having some sort of effect on gameplay.

Console is 'universal', so you can actually 'force' weather effects on people, affecting the gameplay like Balc0ra mentions above isn't a problem. On PC, however, you can't do that. There are too many with utter potato computers. Maybe one could solve it with sheer view distance 'fog', but that won't look very nice.

The last Q&A revealed that the reason behind the 30s battle countdown is for ~80% of players to load in (probably not an exact number); wherein the worst players weren't even able to load all maps. That gives you some idea of why PC-WoT isn't ideal for weather effects. Heck, my old laptop, which can barely run WoT loads in in about 40s, and still loads any map I've tried (aside from GBs). That thing was literally the cheapest Windows-based laptop available in 2014.

(On a side note, ever played War Thunder? Basically, imagine WoT without the indicators above enemy tanks. A bush is actually something you can hide behind, but you're continously spotted (at least within the draw distance). War Thunder allows/allowed (I think it was adressed, actually) a form of 'legacy' graphics mode, where there's minimal vegetation, and what's left is rendered very poorly. It's undeniably a huge advantage, imagine something similar for weather effects on PC-WoT.)

They could implement it as an option-like SD and HD client, if someone doesnt want to play with weather effects (like on ps4 pro) he could deactivate it in options.  Dunno, just something is missing like You hear thunders, You see lightnings but no rain and effects involved with that...

@Aikl   I know what You mean :)   But they did somehow manage to add some weather effects to world of warships ;) There it looks even bettert than those simplified in wot IMHO

Great, what's next? Meteor shower? I hope you can just turn off all these effects, which are beautiful, but totally irrelevant....besides eating up a crudton of memory and requiring a nuke power plant to be played.

regarding load time:

on current live server I have to wait some seconds before the countdown starts,

on 1.0 test server I am there when the countdown is at 20-30 seconds

and my rig is quite old to be honest (i7-2600k, RX 480, several SSD's)

You know he has a point, don't mind as long as you can turn these effects on or off.  As it is now you can play it as though WoT is being powered by a Megadrive right through to a gazillion bit pc, you control the leval of detail.

Post that in the Q&A thread if you haven't already and want it answered by WG.
