Doing arty missions using the American tanks, and at tier 3 I can choose from the M7 Priest line or the T18 HMC line. Which should I choose?

The line with T82. It's just the shadow of what it was, but it may still enjoyable due to the top speed.

Does it matter?  They come together at tier V and you don't get stun before then.

[edit] Depends what you are going to do with crews.  The M7/M37 have a better match of crew to the higher tiers but the other line would be cheaper because they have less crew.

In my T95E2 account, I got the T82. Got M in first or second battle.

if you're heading to the T92 HMC, as above you'll need 6 trained crew eventually, so the earlier you start the better. Again, as above, that means the M7 line.

Doesn't matter. Fast forward to tier 6, after that you can feel you're playing an arty. You aren't eligible for any mission anyway till tier 6.

Tiers 8, 9 and 10 are pretty good. Not as good as they used to be but decent enough.

But if you start with a 75% crew they won't gain enough training before the next tank to be anything other than another 75% crew in the next tank at tiers 3 and 4.

I'm fairly sure you're correct about this too, and only because on an alt that I had to get to 250 Battles, I mostly used the T-28 To do some missions to actually get the credits to buy the KV-1.

I know it used to be the case, though not sure if they would have changed it at any point.

p.s. Just noticed I am now a Field Marshall.

Also, let's not forget to mention that you don't actually need to complete any arty missions at all. I'm pretty sure I blundered through the T28HTC missions in January without paying any attention to them and then I got four honour thingies and skipped the arty stuff. It even allowed me to recruit one more female crew. Which reminds me... I should probably check if I activated the next set of missions.

Don't you have to do them now though. Previously it was something along the lines of you need 20 Thingamajigs, you got 4 For doing ##-15 And 5 For doing it with Honours. Thus if you did LT, MT, HT and TD #15 Missions with Honours you could skip the arty ones, as you said. However with the changes if you did skip anything (such as the T28 HTC Arty missions which I did skip), it threw some of the new commissions onto those and so if you want them back (as I did), you had to grind them and any future ones you either need to do them or skip them. Completing #15 With Honours now just means extra commissions too IIRC.

It is no different now.  You can do four sets and use the orders to skip mission 15 from the other one.

And the arty missions are the easiest to complete.  You can actually play for them unlike the stupid missions you get for other classes, like ram kill, set on fire, etc.

Rereading Snow's comment I can see where I went amiss.

No worries. Also arta missions are probably the easiest but also some of the worst (atleast for me) because you're also stuck playing, well, arta. Playing some other tank atleast for a number of the missions I can basically just play my game as normal and if I get it, cool. Obviously that does mean when I'm actually playing and chasing certain objectives such as the ram kill or caps, it gets pretty frustrating with each additional game that I don't complete it in but I'd say I still probably am enjoying myself more than playing the arta. :P

But you can play arty, eat a sandwich, and knock out a mission at least every other battle.

Well the t18 is by far my best arty upto tier 7, so personally I'd go that way. It's downhill from tier 4.
