I recently participated in a Tier X game where two spineless imbeciles in a clan/platoon decided to drown themselves at the beginning of the game;

(names blurred, as per the rules)

It's obvious that not enough is being done to punish or discourage this.

I've not had XVM installed for a while, so I don't know if that was their (likely) excuse - but if it was, the result only doubly highlights the stupidy of this kind of behaviour;

And to the point of this thread;

I just wanted to say to all - when this happens, DON'T GIVE UP!

Try harder, work with your team and WIN. That way you can truly show these idiots just how worthless they really are.

Of course, whether you win or not, always report for both Unsportsmanlike Conduct AND Inaction/bot - but it's not always the most reliable system.

So I would also like to encourage players send replays to WG in support tickets under;

Rule Violations > I was insulted or harrassed - report a player > In-battle violation > Rigged battle.

That is what I did for this particular game, and was informed in a reply that steps had been taken against the players in question - along with thanks for reporting it.

(And yes, think about it - it is technically game rigging, in another form. It's also team damage/killing on a larger scale with no automated system to deal with it)

So take the time to report it, and make sure people who do this get what's coming to them!:izmena:

but when they drown at the start, doesn't that mean they have a battle in which they get 0 WN8, given that they haven't done a thing in it? Or is that just me. And thus they would loose WN8 in doing so defeating the point.

When I say that, what I mean is they look at the pretty colours &/or win chance and decide not to bother playing.

Send the replay on their clan leader, commenting of the nice team members he's got in his clan

and try to send a ticket to WG,

anyway, GJ turning this into a victory :medal:.

I only drown myself when we're behind by 5 tanks and my remaining team is all orange, like a true gentleman

I agree, its despicable.

To justify it on the grounds that other players are poor, and will not contribute, and then to make the least possible contribution yourself is even worse.
I suspect from the rapid rate that some teams are dying, there are also people suiciding by fire, which is also inexcusable, but at least they are absorbing some enemy damage which may accidently slightly help their team.

I may not be a good player, but I always try to do the best I can for the team. Blatant suicide (except something like the last artillery left ...still bad play and sportsmanship in my book, but more excusable)  I always try to report, the only thing I do so for: I know it probably does little good, but it is far more destructive for the team than any of the widely criticised things such as noobdom, tomatoelike, camping etc etc.

there is no real point in punishing those. you can always find a way to die fast with minimal participation to the battle.
1) turn over

2) yo-lo straight into the enemy ranks

Worst? I have been pushed off the bridge at this map ten seconds into the game; after that, someone drowining himself in that river feels pretty mild offence. If they even did it on purpose - this map offers numerous ways to noob out and find yourself at the bottom somehow.

Sure, if you think purely about yourself. As far as the whole team is concerned though, losing a premade platoon of top-tier tanks is alot worse than losing one random tank.

Either way, they are both essentially the same kind of player in my book - so yes, the worst.

That's like saying there's no real point in punishing murder because there are other less obvious ways to destroy people,

or there's no real point in punishing armed robberies because there are other less obvious ways to steal from people.

Nonsense.

I did send a ticket to WG, and action was apparently taken - as it says in the latter part of the original post.

The clan leader idea is a good one though, didn't think of that~

At what time? Did they say something? It's quite possible that they did that to quickly take some spots in a team or something. Seen that happen many times.

Harsher penalties for all suicides IMO.  Much heavier credit fines (like 5 times repair costs, which are then spread amongst the winning team) and warning points for each time that add up to bans if done multiple times within a certain amount of games (like a 100 say)

For normal players the odd accident would sting them teaching them to be more careful next time.

For the serial offenders they get proper punishments and eventually banned if they do not change their behaviour.  Players like the ones in the OP and the consistently drowning themselves artillery players would end up getting banned, for long period if they keep it up.

Agreed (apart from the spreading costs part, the punishment should only affect the offenders)

Posted a similar suggestion myself in another recent thread, only mine was 2-3 times repair cost and possibly 1.5-2k tank exp loss aswell.

It's not hard to implement a mechanic where someone who drowns themselves at the start of the match with 0 damage and 0 spotting will give them a full repair bill  + full ammo loadout price. That should amount to roughly 100K loss which will discourage most of them nicely.

No I meant the credit fine for the person suiciding is then given as a credit bonus to the other team to compensate for the loss of their HP that they could not get in damage.
