I move well trained crews between tanks as we all do, but rarely go back and purchase a previously owned tank. I moved my IS crew into the IS-M after researching it and used this combo to research OBJ 705. Deciding I wanted to go down the IS-3 line instead, I tried moving the crew back into the tier 7 IS, but in the intervening period they all seem to have forgotten how to drive the tank they all became experts in just a couple of weeks earlier and it seems that to jog their memories they will all need 200 Gold chucking at them.

This seems a bit daft. If you move a crew into a tank they've never set foot in then yes retraining for gold is reasonable, but to have to splash the cash moving them back into a familiar vehicle seems like madness.

Is there a way of doing it I'm not aware of ??

Major qualification is pretty easy to get back to 100%,

just endure it, heavy tanks don't suffer this much from bad crews.

If you want to save some gold, you can only retrain the commander with gold, so he will still give the full bonus, and the others with credits.

Ah! It has been ever thus.

AFAIK there is no way to bypass this.

Either you splash the gold, or you start a new crew training.

Do as I do lately, wait for discounts (100 gold per crew member vs 200 gold normal) for crew retraining.

Waiting to train crew for Emil2, O Ni, IS-M , WZ 111 5A and T10.

At least it wasn't crew for the E100.....that would've been pricey!

Just retrain for silver, activate crew xp boost and that 10% major qualification is back in no time....

It's a bit annoying but if crews could "remember" their previous tanks you'd only need a single crew for an entire line which you could just move around. That might've been convenient for us, but probably not a good for the game (or WG's coffers).
