I just read this on the news page.

"Commanders!

What better time to try out the new HD maps than to jump straight into a competition? Refuel and go wreak havoc in the enemy lines!

You'll have the chance to win one of 12 of the new premium vehicle on 25 March. Three tournaments will each reward their respective winning teams with one tank per player. Additionally, two lucky winners will be randomly selected from amongst all the participants and will also receive a premium tank. Gather your most combat-ready friends and take your chances!"

I hope this is means one for the 12 newest tanks released and not that WG are releasing 12 totally new tanks.

"1st place: unrevealed premium vehicle"

  • 2 vs 2 tier VI
  • 3 vs 3 tier VIII
  • 5 vs 5 tier VI

Now for the hard part involving complex math 2+3+5+2 lucky randomly selected winners = 12

Well since they did not use a plural to explain vehicle. It's just the one.

Most seem to suspect it's the Tier 7 Tiger II going by the "guess what it is" image on NA.. But then again Skill has been driving around in the Tier 7 T-44-122 of late to. Tho the Italian is not far off either.

Do we really need another Tiger tank?

Is it a Russian Tiger Tank????? and then wargming says the russians found some german tiger tanks in ww2 so we introduced a tiger tank for russia which is 10x better then the normal tiger tank for germany??

Well it could have be better to say "You'll have the chance to be one the 12 lucky winners of the new premium vehicle on 25 March."

Hmm yes, one vehicle, given to 12 people, the winners.

English is hard.

I don't think there are 12 new premium tanks available.

It is likely to be the new Italian medium tank before the new line coming in the patch after 1.0

Other options are the tier 7 Tiger 2, Caernarvon AX, T-44-ltw those are the other premiums we have seen being super tested along the the Italian one.

Well it can be at times since it quite often doesn't make sense. Like let's chop everything up in single words...well except for "screwdriver", because "screw driver" would be too funny. And don't make me link that "chaos" poem by some Dutch guy that tells it how it is. No wait I'm gonna do it anyway. Because English is hard doesn't make sense.

Highly amusing.

There is no doubt that English (much like the "English" themselves) is a mongrel language. Gathering bits and pieces of other languages along the way, and having very little consistency, nor any hard and fast rules. Words will be taken from Scandinavian sources, the Germans, the French, the Romans, and all the far flung corners that the empire reached. It is no wonder that English is a source of amusement to linguists who come from languages with more codification and firmer rules.

Incidentally he missed heard and herd which I quite like, and he says mauve and plait incorrectly. However, even as a native speaker some of the more obscure words used are difficult to pronounce correctly. Skein always makes me think whether I have said it correctly.

Returning to the post put out by WG. The prize is one single vehicle of the same type but there will be twelve winners of that vehicle.

It's pronounced like "Skayn", to rhyme with "Pain", Your Grace...

And I reckon the vehicle in question will be a tier VI, or, more likely, VIII Italian Medium - this based on the appearance of the Pudel however-the-hell long ago it was, though one might hope the Italian will not be left hanging friendless for as long as the poor Pole...

The impression I get from the non-native English speakers I know is that learning the basics so you can hold a conversation is relatively easy but learning the ‘detail’ is hard. Then again what do you expect from a nation that has rules as to how peas should be eaten.

I spend a wee bit of time every year at work translating for Americans, though the Dutch and German students seem to grasp colloquial English before they even arrive in UK...

The Aussies just roll along grinning, but perhaps the language cross-pollination between UK and Oz is more two-way than between Brits and Septics, due to the very one-sided flow of TV across the Pond?

It's a German Tiger II at tier 7 with the long 88. Same armor, same turret as the tier 8 one, same engine, but more power to weight since the gun is lighter. Tho less DPM then the Tiger P, at 1600.

Does that mean they're binning the current tier VIII Tiger II? Buffing it? Making it a truly awful premium?

Or leaving it there as bait to lure the unsuspecting, who, with joyful heart and full of hope, crawl up a painful line to it, dreaming of the most potent tank of it's day - only to find what we who have made this Pilgrimage of Disappointment know to be the truth - A power-crept XP-piñata, doomed forever to be nothing but target practice for tier IX and X, or thrown, naked and crying, to the baying pack of bullies in Not-OP-at-all, no not in any way, Tier VIII Premium Meds with their autoloaders and apparently limitless gold...

Yes, I'm salty, yes I fail every single time to achieve anything in this heap, and yes, I'm only still running it in the hope that the E75 will be better...:arta:

Thank you JC, I have been aware of how to pronounce it correctly since school, however whenever I use it in speech I always have this internal doubt in my mind about the way I have pronounced it.

Either of these is my guess:

T-44 Lightweight

Caernavon AX

Aufkl.Panther

Personally I'm hoping for the last one.

I feel your pain, Sir :honoring:

There is an ongoing bickering at Chez Tagger, on the subject of how to pronounce "Hyperbole".... Mrs Tagger does not consider that just because Professor Brian Cox said it the same way I do, on The Infinite Monkey Cage (Radio 4), that makes me right...:teethhappy:

How to pronounce it should follow the simple rule of do people understand what you just said.
