Well I have heard a stat going around that something like 50% of the playerbase have never gone into the options so something like this seems pretty needed for most players out there.

WG should contact Which or the people that make idiots guides, I feel one of those for world of tanks might be useful for many players.

You don't but the average WoT player might have problem realizing that they can lower the graphics if it slows down (not even joking here)

For players that prefer to limit their movement to an initial 2-300m, they probably want all the eyecandy they can get to prevent boredom. Also, limiting movement does improve performance.

Would frankly not be surprised if system limitations (stemming from not tweaking graphics settings) are the main reason why so many choose to play the game like it's about being a flasher in a public park.

Does this mean that even tomatoes can play light tanks if they turn the graphics up?

Measuring load times per class would be kind of interesting. You can see people in grey if they aren't loaded in yet. Of course, that's not necessarily down to general system performance, but I've noticed graphics settings matter a lot for my old laptop with a disk drive (it struggles with both load times and framerate in-game).

I also play on an old laptop, but the FPS seem pretty similar to before the update (60-80 on med settings).  I have noticed that load times seem to be affected badly tho, with a lot of allied tanks often not even rendering prior to the start of the battle.

Unfortunately, I also run xvm & have players names coloured appropriate to their PR, which stops me from seeing if people haven't loaded in yet as they're all coloured.  So I'm unsure if they haven't rendered yet because they haven't loaded in, or if it's just due to my system still loading them.  This always seems to resolve itself within a couple of seconds of the battle starting tho, so is not a major problem for me.  Last night I only slightly damaged myself twice driving into allies I couldn't yet see.  I should probably play about with the graphics settings some more to see if this fixes it, but I was just keen to have a go last night.

Considering the high frequency I am seeing "Ally XXX_ Insert Light tanks name Has Crashed/Drowned/ Overturn the Vehicle" withing the first minute, I would say definitely :girl:

Apart from the fact that I was also looking for a way to make this window disappear I understand why WG wanted to make it 100% sure that everybody notices that they can adjust the settings. I remember some data they shared few months ago which claimed that about half of WoT players have never changed any option in the settings menu so there are probably people who need to be told that they can make the game look better or run smoother or that they are able to turn some features on or off etc.

It's not even that though, it's a collection of filters which make the game look various states of terrible.  All it needs is one with a set of dog ears for your tank.
