This is my biggest gripe of 1.0... almost every elevation is made out of rocks.

Airfield: so you want drop down from from the balcony - get rekt.

Karelia: want to jump down into a trench to cut line of fire - get rekt.

Mines: want to drop down behind a heavy - get rekt.

Etc.

I understand, possible mistakes in map design may happen, but I don't get this... as if there was no other option.

They just want less routes and create more corridors. That's what the players want after all. Wait...

 

Also the modelling of rocks is just horrible. Keep firing at them even though am clearly aiming past. Also the graphic bugs are also frequent.

The way it is now is better.

Tanks can't drop from a height of 6 meters down a cliff if the bottom is a bit rounded... (as in the old system)

Probably they were short on time.

 

But yes need some attention and improvement, I had one situation where a small jump resulted in getting rekt from full hp because rocks.

No no no, some places u can climb down without getting rekt, kill ur crew or dmg modules, freakiest was down som rocks dmg amorack,lol. Just go slow preferabli a bit sideways, turn abs on, and use a bit handbrake.

Abbey also got rekt. The 'alternative' routes to the middle of the abbey aren't usable anymore. Probably because if favored the north spawn a lot, but it made the gameplay more dynamic and gave opportunities to light tanks. Also it is not possible to go from the 7 line towards the 8-9 line anymore, that was my favorite standard move at the start when spawned at the south :(

 

Now the map is even more 'corridory' and really hurts light tanks imo.

It was kinda silly of me to try to drop down. Platoon buddy tried to help, it was a win anyway. Oh, well, lessons learned. :D

And yet if the ability to drive down a cliff had never been a feature in the game would anybody be asking for it now?

Remember when the 'new' physics got introduced, like 2 years ago or so? When you dropped from 1-2 meters and your hull hit the ground, a full hp kv-4 for instance lost all its hp at once :teethhappy:

Being able to slide down cliffs was a by-product of the new physics engine implementation of 2016.

My guess is it was never Wargaming's plan for us to be able to do that and that they fixed this with these new crash ensuring cliffs.

So I think it is unlikely that this 'problem' will be fixed.

 

It is not a bug, it is a feature.

On the test server all you had to do was brush a rock / cliff edge to literally slide down it like ice.
