Balanced, or not, a good many players loved Sand River irrespective of the spawn point (some well known ones even said so here) and I was very much one of them.

It's hardly breaking news to claim that players in World of Tanks like certain parts of the game for their own reasons.

I personally don't think a map should be in World of Tanks that's so far skewed in terms of an advantage to one of the teams. That's irrespective of any enjoyment I take from a map. It's just good design.

Next people will be claiming artillery shouldn't be in World of Tanks because they don't like it and it's not balanced, even though it's fun for some players.

Maybe they will, but I suspect they would be wasting their time:arta:

I don't see a single reason why we wouldn't :amazed:

I mean, of course, we strongly disagree on arty, but there's endless other topics in this world (of tanks or not), so we're literally bound to agree at least on some of them :)

As Dr Johnson said:

Sand river assault attack or defense doesn' t matter was my favorite to play. Liked it and enjoyed it a lot. Missing it now!

The reason was obvious, statistically this assault heavily favoured defenders, and there certainly was some complaining about it. Apparantly, the playerbase is sharply split between players who want all maps to be as equal as possible, and players who don't care much about this aspect - interestingly, this split seems to run through the entire strength spectrum; there are members of both parties among unicums and noobs alike. If I were asked, I would have kept this assault; I found it fun and rewarding no matter the side. However, I would have increased the assault time limit to 15 minutes, at least for this map, as I think a lot of otherwise successful attacks were lost because the time ran out before the last remaining defender could be caught.

I quite liked Sand River Assault, as it was if nothing else a good place to garner a Kolobanovs in a Light by running away and hiding when the rest of your team had collapsed.  However, it was noticeably difficult for the attacker to win unless he had some competent arty, and did not have half the team camping in the hills.
