New Erlenberg- new issues

Hello.

I just got robbed of two kills because there is an invisible wall in the castle in Erlenberg.

Tbh, i have had a lot of hitbox issues, where i can clearly see the enemy but i shoot the wall. I need to drive a bit further and overexpose. The hitbox doesnt seem to be the same as the visual quite a lot.

New Erlenberg is the biggest pile of garbage since komarin and what bothers you is some badly made texture edges which happen on every map btw

If graphics make some people play better or worse I don't think it's fair. We were said after 1.0 comes out everyone would be able to play the same way he could before the patch. Provided nothing is done this will favour players who play on better PCs. I've got two computers, one of them is crap and that's the one I was playing on Erlenberg.

 

To be honest changes on Erlenberg made it enjoyable for me. But please, do something about those textures.

This could be the case, I know Himmelsdorf windows are really bad for this (for me anyway).

The problem is that if you lower your graphics down too far, what you see isn't exactly what is there.  The terrain 'mesh' (upon which the collision modelling / clipping is done) will not match up with lower resolution polygons being overlayed.

 

Here is an example image from the last time I saw someone had this issue on the old Arctic Region map:

There's nothing that can be done, really.  There is one actual 'terrain' which the physics and clippings uses and many different graphics settings on top to allow people with slower PCs to still play.  WoT can't have lots and lots of different terrain maps to accommodate each graphics setting.  WG could prevent people from playing with graphics lower than 'x' settings but then a lot of people wouldn't be able to play at all.

They can fix the hitboxes that are just wrong an all settings though.

I assume though, that the graphics are kind of 'draped' over the terrain mesh, i.e. this is done dynamically rather than someone touching up the graphics manually after the terrain has been created.  Hence there will be some discrepancy between what is shown on full settings (where the graphics layers fits nicely on top of the 'physics layer;) and lower settings where the polygon count is simply reduced and fidelity lowered accordingly.

 

If the settings are too low then there simply won't be enough polygons to properly follow the contours of the underlying terrain mesh.  Crude example here:

 

 

Since people on lower spec PCs cannot increase the polygon count, the only way to cater for them is to reduce the polygon count of the actual terrain (resulting in blocky, angular terrain for everyone).

 

This is all just my guess work based on observation.

This is something WG has failed to get right ever since closed beta.

 

Their hitboxes are simplified versions of the visual geometry so they will never match 100%. But it's relatively easy to make them fit in *KEY* locations of the map with a bit of effort.

I don't have anything against hitboxes SLIGHTLY not matching textures. In my replay it is HUGE :) I wouldn't mind if half of the tank was blocked by the invisible hitbox. But whole tank is just too much.

Same here. Himelsdorf is really bad in places.

I wonder if the new not so smooth rocks are not helping or whether it's just WG rushing to get the maps completed.

If you can't see the tank outline. You are behind potato rendering cover still. It's that simple. If you see the tank outline. Then you fire.

Played on Erlenberg three times now, each a game where the teams camped even more than on the old version, wtf!
