Hell I'll even make a poll to see better what you guys think...

So tonight I was playing WoT as usual, but I somehow lost track of time...and before I knew it, it was midnight  Then I had a lightbulb moment.

We now have an open garage, in the woods, out in the fresh air where the Sun's rays light up the hazy morning mist, as the tankers in the base camp prepare for battle...but should we stop there?

Definitely not.

What if the garage actually had real-time day progression? In the mornings, when the servers come back online after downtime, it would look like it does now.

In the middle of the day (ex. 11:00 til 16:00) it would be a bright hot day, with distant sounds of gunfire, as the tankers, and soldiers, go into battle, with a few people left in the nearby tent, keeping check of the battle happening in the background ambience, the ambience now including radiowaves from the camp's transmission relay.

In the evenings (ex. 16:00 til 20:00) the light begins to fade as the day ends, the battle has stopped, and the camp's medical team is taking care of injured soldiers, while the mechanics beat on the twisted tank metal to patch up the damage sustained in battle (wrenching bolts, welding parts).

During the night (ex. 20:00 til 6:00) It's a peaceful night, the moon is shining and reflecting off the water, crickets can be heard, along with the voices of all the tankers gathered around a campfire, telling stories or explaining how they destroyed an enemy tank (possibly explaining tactics which could be used in the game?), etc.

Just imagine each of those settings visually, and tell me what you think about it, I'm curious. :)

Yes. New garage is the best I ever saw and this idea would just improve it further.

Imagine going to the garage at night and seeing it lit by the lamps they have set up and the fire.

I think when I played an early iteration of Call of Duty there was a church clock that told the correct time.  I think it was a third party map.

Yes a clock would be great, tend to loose track of time when playing and to lazy to alt-tab:)

Careful. If WG gets behind this, it will push back game improvements by at least six months. It would also divert much needed resources from their fictional tanks department. Objects don't invent their own armour layouts you know.

This would indeed be a very neat feature if ever implemented.

For now though I would mostly like to see, more so than the op's proposed feature, that the old garage be brought back as an ingame option..

I thought about that aswell, bringing back the old garage as an option for the SD client would drastically reduce the load on the olders PC's.

I remember playing on my old laptop 2 years ago, barely 20fps in battle, but in garage I had 60fps. I feared any special event garage because those were always open, and navigating through the garage menu with the laggy mouse cursor was a pain in the butt, I had to face the camera straight down to get any decent fps, just to be able to click on things.

Perhaps adding in a little time display both in battle and in garage could be arranged. I know it already is a mod, but it would be really nice to have in the standard game

Hmm. I like the suggestion itself, but there would be one very unlogical problem: If we have night in our garage, why is it suddenly day when we go into battle?

Ha, what if we took my idea one step further and have ALL the maps have the same, matching day/night cycle? :amazed:

Voila, night maps... :great: Killed two birds with one stone.

Hmm, but then the question remains if we really want to fight on night maps and not be able to see anything ;)

just because it's night doesn't mean it's pitch black, and even then a lot of maps would have street lights too

Exactly. Plus, most (if not all) tanks have modelled headlights/brakelights so that should be a part of the night mode update.

I know this whole idea is a lot of work, but it'll add more variety into the game, which is never a bad thing if you ask me. I hope we'll see something like this in the future.
