After Wot having evolved so much... having the next great graphics thing, one has to wonder why other aspects don't evolve at all?

The general chat is such a system.

You come in... and always read n#### .... or "###### wargaming ##### balancing!" ... or just "#### is a race of #####".

Take your pick. its all there within 1 minute of watching. Mods are... IF AT ALL... like 2 minutes there and ban about 10 people then. For 24hrs.

WoT itself claims to have 160.000.000 players... and even if there would be only 1.600.000 active player, you think any human could handle those!?

Now lets go back a few years and see what i saw 2003. (thats 15 years back! and not the first to do that!).

CnC Renegade... self crated chat bots muted anyone swearing 3 times. Some servers kicked those players.

Now lets look just 5 years back, when i still played EvE Online:

Eve splits players in their NATIVE LANGUAGE ... and then ... THEN... gives the freedom to swap channels.

Creating channels was a given for this game. You could lock them with passwords and they would stay active and joined upon login.

How about the 'new hot stuff'? Overwatch!?

- testing a system to avoid players being toxic (3 max)

- more people set you on said list... you get stopped from playing at all.

World of Tanks in 2018 does:

- not have a chat bot for : racism, swearing, spam!!!

- does cram everyone (language/temper) into 1 channel

- does not remember which channels joined (self crated disappear once left)

Anyone surprised the ingame chat was already turned off?

Obviously the Wargaming system does not work the right way to handle that... its way to player depended.

It starts in the garage... goes into battle... and back to garage. A perfect cycle of crap hitting the fan!

I get that Chat systems ain't news worthy (oh my!) ... however its a tumor eating up the playerbase from the inside out.

If programming a simple anti spam bot... something a drunk student can do (and it isn't even half as fun as i might make it sound) ...

If programming a simple anti spam bot... is to much asked to help your channels, YOUR COMMUNITY.

one has to wonder how much everyone is worth towards the head of Wargaming.

Now for the head of wg... take a guess: players that don't rage quit and ruin the game for others... players actually playing and not picking other friendlier/fun games instead... i heard thats also $$$

I guess if you disagree, i assume you like to be poison 24/7.
For my case: i can be a meany but usually i threat people the way they threat me. I guess most can relate to that? If not... you are the one starting the dicking :)

Take a wild guess what happens the second the mod leaves?

General chat is a honeytrap for handing out chat bans so WG can claim they take action against toxicity. Just don't go there, simples.

Forget general chat its pointless, they just ban people even though chat serves no purpose other than whinge central.

they would better off not eroding their mods sanity by forcing them to moderate such a place.

Who the heck uses General chat anyway? 90% of the players go to their own channles etc.

And you could bypass it by using space, or have dots between each letter. So it never did work. And that worked for English only. So considering how many different swear words there are in Europe. And that you can talk trash to someone without using it. I don't see how such a system would even be remotely effective even here. Then again. 15 years ago, gamers were more mature.

Then you do it and sell it do them if it's that easy.

Or you can just 100% ignore general chat like most do. I'm amazed you think it would be effective and a useful tool even with all this counters in there. Even on a good day it's still useless. That's why most make their own channels. inc this forum.

Never logged into General Chat. Never felt the need to. Probably never will.

Am I missing out on something important?

Considering I never use "General" to be honest what "triggers" me the most in it is the fact that one can not actually close it for real. Like, my OCD tendencies get "triggered" by the constant existence of that "General" button because it ruins the aesthetics. xD

Couldn't it be like... actually close-able and an option to join it if one wants be where the normal option to join/create channels is?

Why would you care about some useless in-game chat?

I'm convinced that the "General" chat in WoT is the most toxic place on the planet.

General chat is only there so they can show that they have a "main" moderated chat.

It's a pre-requisite for their age rating.

"You come in... and always read n####"

I've never seen n####, so that's nonsense to suggest you always see it.

or Edited, sue me WG

or just "#### is a race of #####"

I've seen the odd word regarding parts of Europe, never that though

"Anyone surprised the ingame chat was already turned off?"

Not surprised at all - because people like you exist and you ruin everything for everyone because you can't tolerate people being different to you.

"!I guess if you disagree, i assume you like to be poison 24/7. "

Case in point, "people who disagree with me are terrible..."

That's you.

Try loading an XVM mod, they appear to come with spam filters.

Also, nobody uses general chat, ever, there is literally no point in being in there unless you are 12 years old and have nobody to talk to. In which case saying rude things is the funniest thing ever.

"Poo, poo, poo, poo"

WG's reactions / no-reactions to chat behaviour is a lesser flaw than unbalanced and set-up battles in this game.

Or use the "Censor offensive words in chat" option in the settings.
