It caught my eye, ten degrees gun depression + excellent standard pen. Gunhandling potato though and DPM pretty trash.

How is it? any of you who own it? Is it worth getting if one is a fan of tier 9 meds?

It's alright. Not the best, not the worst.

hull down awesomeness

just protect your lower front plate, and you can sidescrape quite well

edit, don't try to snapshot tho, it will miss everytime unless you aim fully

I kept the Centurion 7/1 after the gind through to the CAX, and buying the tier X (which is similar but better). The Centurion 7/1 can be fun on the right map, and I enjoy playing it, but the dpm is a real drag.

Centurion Mk. 7/1
  • Improved turret armor

source = https://worldoftanks...e-announcement/

Patch notes from October 2017. Prior to that the turret was not good enough for hulldown antics. Post the patch it is more reliable.

I play it with the 20 pounder too, great rate of fire.

I use the 105 mm on the Action X so, I have like a different playstyle with the tier 9.

105 is solid too ofc

I am not sure with the overly long reload the L7 on the Cent 7/1 has could easily be described as beautiful. But oh boy when you catch something squishy with a HESH round then it truly is a thing of beauty.

I think the point that strapone is making is that the L7 on the Cent 7/1 fires 5.36 rounds per minute giving it a dpm of 2,090 base (more with 100% crew and perks etc). Each shell hits for ave 390 and the HESH & HE do 480.

In comparison his suggestion of using the 20 pounder gives a base dpm of 3,420 (more with crew at 100% and perks). The alpha is only tier VIII medium average of 230, and there is no HESH shell for squishy targets. Penetration drops to 226 which is why he suggests only firing prem shells (the L7 has penetration of 268 so is cheaper to run).

As well as the dpm advantage that the 20 pounder has over the L7 the other thing is the aim time. 1.9 for the twenty pounder against 2.3 for the L7. So the twenty pounder means less time exposed.

It's actually a viable choice if you are willing to spam prem rounds. Although many players would take alpha over dpm. But it is an interesting argument.

its my best medium, altho the soviets are strong in the right hands same as the germans, the british centurion is just a king of the hills, pop above peak and shoot.. thats all, on brawling and close range its clunky, slow and big target.. so its a nice one trick pony, plus it has good penetration and doesnt need to waste premium ammo, extra bonus it has nice hesh to destroy light targets.

Played it before and after the buff. It's a really good tank. Kept it for quite some time after getting the Cent AX as it's just a ton of fun. Especially full HESH platoons are hilarious, nothing better than penning a T-10's lower plate with the 2 key.

Turret is great, dpm is lame, gun handling is meh, so don't get into close fights, stay mid-range so you have time to reload.

I really love my HESHurion. Good hulldown capabilities, and hilarious premium ammo. What's there not to like?

HESHmemes is what I hear is quite good about that tank. 210mm HESH pen means you can consistently deal 580 damage per shot to Tier 9 mediums, and some Tier 10 ones too provided you don't care about credits. I'm looking to get it one day too, so this thread is quite interesting.

I wouldn't say consistently. It's HE with a lot of pen, but still HE, so it will be pretty unpredictable at times. But that makes the moments where you do pen just that more satisfactory.

In real life, that version is pretty much the version that shot up the most T54's/T55's/T62's in history in combat.

One of the very best MBT's in history.

Of course, in this game, Russian Bias means that while it can handle Russian Mediums, it is outclassed by Russian Mediums.

It's good. Not as good as a Soviet medium (ahem) but it is pretty good. Tier for tier I enjoyed the Mk1 better.

Alpha>DPM as it's more reliable.

With that said, my best ever Cent7/1 game was with the 20pdr.

A >6k dmg + >6k assist Prokorovka game which hit 00:03 on the clock before I put the final shell in.

Indeed. It's even more annoying in that I doubt the vast majority of Russian players will recognise the fact. It's also a weird business model in some ways. Piss off your most affluent client base by consistently underselling the value of Western tanks.
