...finally got rid of IS-M, didn't like it all.

Am grinding the 705 but have lost all 12 games played in it

it doesn't feel horrible, i think it is just one of those streaks, but is it markedly better if all modules are unlocked ?

I could do it with free XP but am hesitant to waste them :-)

Every stock tier 9 will be horrible.
Fully upgraded it should be a different matter.

It's alright when stock, tbh, as long as you have the 122 unlocked from the Object 257. That and stock turret are perfectly workable.

I like the top 130 more just because of better standard pen and more alpha, but its even derpier which sucks a bit but you kinda want to brawl with the tank anyway so it's not AS bad as it first seems like.

Obj 705 is alright. It can be pretty frustrating to play, but it performs rather well (it's bad at doing damage but it wins well just because it blocks damage and is not horribly slow either). I liked the IS-M more, though; if tier 8 MM was actually not aids, the IS-M would be very, very strong tank.

I agree with you. IS-M, tier to tier, should be better than 705, even just because of better side armour.

Also, everything 705 can do, can be  done better in ST-I, while at least IS-M is somehow special in tier 8, a midway between IS-3 and KV-4.

Wouldn't say that the ST-I is flat out better at everything; 705 is basically immune to even premium ammo when positioned exactly right, it has more HP and more alpha damage, so it trades better. I would say the ST-I is overall a better tank, though, solely because its more versatile, but I wouldn't call it flat out better.

Even ST-I, if positioned well is immune to premium ammo. The only real advantage I see in 705 is the AP immune UFP+turret, that may allow it to push better in the open... I agree that ST-I is more versatile, especially thanks to the better gun and side armour so I still not see a place for 705 in tier 9 soviet HT... T-10 covers the heavyum place, ST-I covers the traditional HT role, 257 is midway, more mobile than ST-I and a bit more armoured than T-10.

Tried it for one match, it was enough to stick to the 257's.

You shouldn't really judge it from one battle :v

I personally didn't like the 257's gun, because the penetration + APCR felt really lackluster at times. Bouncing stuff like 705A LFP was pretty frustrating. Also higher alpha is sweet for trading.

Standard APCR with premium HEAT seems like a better combo to me.
