I just finished playing in a centurion mk1, no exactly well known for it's hull armour. I'm in a tier 10 game (of course) and an IS-7 decides to drive on up and plant several APCR premium rounds into my hull....why? Because they are too cheap! I believe that people would still purchase these rounds at the same rate but would be less inclined to use them if the cost of these game ruining shells were doubled or tripled. Am I alone in thinking that the premium rounds are making armour pointless? It's getting to the point beyond a joke imo.

You think having no premium rounds would have made your fight with the IS7 MORE fun?  I think premium rounds suck but not for the reason you chose to use.  If someone wants to waste credits penning my T8 in their T10, that's their choice - it really doesn't worry me at all.

Some people do use them quite a lot, but an IS-7 would've penned you either way so it doesn't really matter in that case. Maybe he had a full gold layout, which some people like to do due to them either being not very good at the game, tryhard farming WN8 or just have too many credits sitting in their bank. 'Tis how it is, until WG finally implements some of the changes that they've been thinking about.

I suppose he could have already loaded premium ammo to deal with tier IX and X tanks? Would you expect him to stop and reload just so he can shoot you with AP?

And you would have killed that IS-7 and bounced all his shots with normal ammo to right? I mean if he would still pen and rape you regardless. Just smile and be happy he did not treat you like a cheap date. It's like seeing a Borsig whining about gold ammo when top tier. But he shuts up when they shoot HE at him for 2x more damage. That's fine suddenly.

Guy spams premium rounds without the need for it, when a guy driving a shitty med 2 tiers under decides to engage him. Yeah, that means the game is broken alright.

How is an IS-7 shooting your Centurion with premium making your armour pointless?  All he did was waste some credits (or even gold).  You would have been just as dead with AP.

I really don't see what you have to cry about.

I find now that in tier 7 and 8 games premium rounds are the ones to use if you want any chance of winning.

It's been this way for years, and it's not likely to change. Load your own, and as QB would say "Dab that 2 key!".

So how exactly did this ruin the game? How is this a good example of premium rounds ruining the game? That IS-7 would have penetrated with standard ammunition anyway, so if anything this is a perfect example of 'premium ammo doesn't make a difference'. Did you even think before posting this? No? Well, that really isn't a surprise...

If you want to get your point across, and/or come up with some viable arguments, at least provide examples which actually support them.

You need to understand one thing.

It´s all about economy. People need to buy gold ammo for penetration -> people need credits -> people are forced to invest into the game.. That´s the simplest business formula how economy flows with gold ammo.

WG needs to have game mechanics which persuade you to spend real money on it. Don´t try to think about it in a different way.

That is the reason why gold ammo can be purchased for silvers and not only gold. Because it is more appealing to buy premium account/tank to farm silvers than just buy gold again and again.

WG as any other company wants as many people as possible to spend money.

I like the idea some mentioned on this forum that premium ammo should stay in the game, but with less damage.

People would whine about it just as much or perhaps even more. Suddenly instead of being an idiot for shooting premium ammo when he did not need to the IS-7 driver is an idiot for doing less damage than he could have done. Look at the complaints about HE doing damage and therefore 'removing the need to aim.'

Every time I see someone complain about premium ammo, I just load more.  I'm seriously thinking about playing for a few weeks with 100% gold, just to annoy the 'purists'.

Bots MM and RNG are ruining this game more than every other problem combined.

Makes me wonder. Why do you care what kind of ammo the IS7 is using against your hullarmor? He would have penetrated you with AP just as easily.

Gold ammo in its current state is flawed, but my now, due to the sad balancing, a super high penetration ammo is needed in the game. Balancing gold ammo via the economical level and not via the gameplay is a super stupid idea. Its pay2win, but WG insists that that is not the case, but it is.
