I don't have this tank, but I been looking on tanks.gg to collision model, because from info we get on test server, Vk K got small buff to armor.

And armor was buffed, Mantlet close to gun got 40 mm, when you do sidescrape tank now have 300 mm thick armor, so no more weakspot when angling, but there is one more thing, I don't know if this is tanks.gg problem or WG change that;

As you can see lower plate now have 180mm, middle flat plate have 170mm. Effective armor is joke.

If someone have VK 72K and test server instaled should check this up, if this is true or tanks.gg have error.

Prob just trying to make this and panzer 7 different.
Also if that layout is not a bug, then almost impossible to pen if its side scraping

But those tank are same, what is different its gun. Making one armor different is stupid.

You can still just shoot through the gun mantlet of VK7201, just next to the gun.

Why does WG hate German heavy tanks...

Isn't the tank just pretty much like a slower, fatter Object 705A with a worse turret but way better side armor and all around better gun?

It seems someone messed with the armour model and didn't actually finish up the changes at all, because:

  • Frontal mid plate decreased from 300 to 180 mm
  • Lower frontal plate decreased from 230 to 170 mm
  • Lower-lower frontal plate decreased from 160 to 40 mm
  • Rear circle superstructure from 160 to 300 mm (all the way around, even the back)
  • angled side panel is now spaced armour, b ut there doesn't seem to be any armour behind it (so not actually spaced)
  • Mantlet thickness was fixed and made stronger on pretty much all areas
  • Cupola ring increased from 100 to 120 mm
  • Bar in front of the mantlet is now 0 mm armour, instead of 120 mm spaced armour
  • Turret tracks are now 0 mm armour
  • Hull side tracks are now 190 mm
  • Hull belly plate was increased from 40 mm to 160 mm

It seems like a major mess with all these 0 mm armour zones and the belly suddenly being 160 mm, so it must be an unintended change that is likely to be fixed.

Well WG didn't say anything about nerf to armor, so that's strange.

As you pointed out, tank model is mess now.

I will download test server tomorrow and I will see is it bug or what, i hope they will not nerf it like this, if they nerf it this tank will be good only at side scraping and sh*t for normal usage :/ This is overall nerf to the tank

It has been nerfed as a crap, evry shoot on the side weakspot is an ammorack, frontal armor nerfed and still can be penetrated on the gun with tier 8 standard AP.

I can confirm that this armoring is still as it is. It's a super mess now. It can ONLY sidescrape if even that. Front of the tank is just a joke with double layered paper. Tier 8 tanks can easily penetrate it. What a joke on tier 10 tank.

And this is A REWARD TANK FROM CLAN WARS. Second reward tank ever released in world of tanks clan wars. It's so disgusting how WG makes all the german tanks so bad.

There's also one 0 mm armoring area which you didn't meantion. Right next to the gun there's 0 mm armoring area on the mantlet now instead of the spaced armoring what used to be there.

On top of this the back plate on the turret doesn't add any armor thickness to the turret while on the Pz 7 it does.
