Hello everyone, today I wanted to talk about something that is kinda missing in WoT at the moment, and that is: A test track, a place where one can test a tank and see wether they like it or not.

How would it work? Well, a way of doing it would be like WT's testrange, you have a couple of stationary targets at different ranges, and some moving tanks aswell. This would be nice start but, besides that adding a spot with every tank you can face with the tank you're testing would be nice, either with you selecting a tank which then gets placed somewhere in a field/town/etc. or with a big "arena" where you have all the tanks you can face stored. And last but not least, a shooting range where you can test the armor of a tank, on-paper stats can only tell you so much.

What tanks can you use in the test mode?

You can take any tank, of any nation, both prem and standard to the test field, both tanks that you have, don't have or ones that you can't even buy. (for example you can take ANY premium tank, wether it's in the shop, techtree or unavailable to the track) aswell as vehicles like the Chieftain Mk. 6, the VK 72.01(K). As for modules, you can select which modules, crewskills etc. you mount on the tank, aswell as shell loadout. Testing is entirely free, so no matter what you shoot or use, you don't loose credits, but neither do you gain anything.

What is the purpose?

The biggest gain would be that you can see wether you like a tank or not, while it won't give you a full picture you do get a bit more of an idea. This could prevent people from buying tanks (both standard and prem) that they will absolutely hate. Besides that it could potentially allow multiplayer aswell alowing you to test things with your friends.

let me hear what you think aswell as improvements to the testing range.

And with that said, have a nice day,

Thuis001

Well, you kinda can, it is called test server.

Edit: Go look up current WoT news, there is common 1.0.1 common test, download the test client installer from there.

Good idea, but i think by how wot is designed that'd require a live session on the servers

Console has test maps with idle or active targets. Or even a timed lap track around mines to test mobility and compare it without octane etc. But... you can only use your own tanks.

PC don't have it yet for a simple reason. Server strain. And that's why boot camp is even limited on population. Or why you can't explore a map on your own. As then he needs to start to many solo rooms for one player. Vs battle rooms for 30 or 60 players via randoms. So if they had it, they would still need to limit it, and there would be a line to use it constantly I suspect if you could do it to any tank you did not own.

Tho I could not find it, there was a Q&A from before Xmas that did get that question with regards to map exploration etc on tanks you do own. They said they had something planned for it. But what and how they did not say.

What if some of us don't have friends, Thanks. The pain is still fresh......

But seriously I do like the Practice/Test range idea.

yeah, but that only works for tanks you have, the entire purpose here is for tanks you DON'T have

Your idea is very good but it has a major problem: WG sales would drop if you introduce the possibility of testing a tank before buying it.

Imagine how people would test premium tanks and some of them are kinda bad.
