Gold Ammo Visibility Mod 2.0.18 WG approved

 

This mod changes the color of particle effects for gold rounds. It enables you to identify and avoid gold spammers without having to get hit first.

 

 

Disclaimer: Please use this mod responsibly. Don't shame other players based on their ammunition load-out. 

 

 

Features

  • Changes the color of premium ammunition hit effects
  • Recolors penetrating and not penetrating hits, bouncing shots, shots hitting the ground or other objects
  • Fully configurable. By default only gold rounds fired by enemies can have the effect.

 

 

Color Choices

The mod is available in the following 10 colors. 

Note: The screenshots show non penetrating large caliber APCR rounds. The hit effects vary in size based on caliber and ammunition type.

Custom Colors & Effects new

With Gold Visibility Color Creator you can now easily create your own color variants of the mod with just two clicks.

It also allows you to create your very own, custom effects instead of some colorful explosions. Like lightning bolts, flying wallets or even Kappa himself.

All you have to do is choosing a color, maybe uploading an image and pressing a button. It is that easy!

Installation

Unzip the zip archive and copy its content into your WoT folder.

 

 

Config file optional step

The mod can be configured by editing the goldvisibility.json file in the mods/configs folder.

 

 

FAQ

Q: The mod seems to have no effect / doesn't work.

A: Make sure Extra Effects are enabled in the settings under Graphics. Also, by default only effects for enemy shells are shown.

 

Q: The changes I made to the config aren't reflected in the game.

A: You probably forgot to add a comma or something and the mod fails to parse the file.

I've uploaded the mod to wgmods.net today and it has been approved by WG. https://wgmods.net/1233

 

The mod should now also be working with WoT 1.0.1. I've done some work on that yesterday.

Just did a retest of the mod on the 1.0.1 CT 2 server, no braking changes since CT 1.

Pretty screenshot as proof :)

Hello,

 

First of all, nice mod ! I very much like this revamped version, especially the fact that it now distinguishes premium ammo vs regular instead of ammo types :)

Second, I unfortunately have an issue to report : When the very first effect of your mod is displayed in a battle, a quite long (~2s) freeze may occur.

 

More details :

  • Context :
    • I spotted this bug at the beginning of the battle as I was the first tank to be shot at. In this case, it happens that the shot was a gold round.
    • It didn't happen afterwards (or I didn't noticed it).
    • I could reproduce it every time by playing the replay of that battle with 'Gold ammo visibility' being the only mod installed on a fresh install of the WoT client.
    • If you go back to this scene without quitting the replay, it doesn't happen anymore.
    • The battle was quite not the first of the session (it's very likely that a gold round was shot in a previous game, so the effect had already been loaded in memory before).
    • It happens regardless of the color chosen.
    • It does not happen when the mod is not installed.

Wow, thank you. Awesome bug report, even with replay and timestamp. 

I'll try my best in fixing the issue. ;)

 

Edit: I can't reproduce the issue. I've got WoT installed on a SSD though.

Fixed in version 2.0.2

Update is also pushed to WG Mods. It takes some time for it to get approved though.

It is in line with the fair play policy. The latest update just got approved on https://wgmods.net/1233/ ;)

WG will remove res_mods sooner or later, that's why they created mods folder, so in my opinion it's better to keep own stuff in one place, also for consistency, better to have it at once place than in various folders.

Done. The config file has been moved. Also added comments to the config file.

 

res_mods/configs/goldvisibility.json will still work and override the settings in the new config file!

The new Gold Visibility Color Creator app looks like this and allows you to choose any color you want. It also allows you to change the opacity of the effects.

The Gold Visibility Color Creator is currently unavailable. I've got some issues with timeouts since I've added a new feature today.
