Hi Folks,

So a few weeks ago on a Sunday I raised the topic asking the story behind peoples names, this time I'm asking the story behind your forum picture.  Mine is quite simple, I absolutely love the movie "Kellys Heroes", me and some buddies first seen this as teenagers and watched it loads of times, for me it's quite poignant as one of us made some choices and ended up a different path in life.  I still think of this childhood friend every time I see this movie  and the other person of the three and I talk about it and those teenage years with fond memories of when life was so much simpler.

So when I was looking for a pic for the forum I chose this, Oddball was some character, there are some truly classic comedy moments from him in that movie, if you have not seen it then I advise watching it.

That's my story, what's yours ?

Shane

I am a Chemist and I really like maniacal goblins in most fantasy and future fantasy settings. I even own a Warhammer 40k Imperial Guard Army that is conpletely made of Goblins instead of human soldiers.

So yeah... the pic fits somehow.

Mine is an avatar from the Age of Empires III -forums. That was the first game-related forums I really got into (got up to around 4-5,000 posts there IIRC) and I really liked this avatar so I saved it to my computer and have been using it in various places ever since.

Also while this thread is nice and all, I foresee a move to off topic.. :hiding:

Back in the 90's a company called Reeves and Mortimer brought out a superb book called 'Cats in Bomber Jackets'. The book was of excellent quality and stayed with me both physically and spiritually 'till this very day, hence the pic.

Jon Anderson, is in my profile pic, just about to enjoy a rolled-up cigarette.

Mine is Marc Bolan, my rock hero from the 70s.  He actually released an album called 'Tanx' and this is one of the shots from the album cover shoot.

It portrays Omar Little from the TV series The Wire, a criminal who mainly robs drug dealers and abides to a moral code unlike his foes, while exectuing more cunning and well planned operations than they do. Probably my favourite character from the show.

"Say, friend - you got any more of that good sarsaparilla?"

The stranger from "the big Lebowski", a truly amazing character in an amazing movie.

Plus he looks identical to a professor I had in university back in the 90s.

:)

Poster started a thread about cheats, claiming that they were amazingly effective. When it was pointed out that even the youtube video he claimed proved it included a disclaimer stating that it was a mistake and the guy probably wasn't cheating, that OP claimed to have tried all these cheats for himself and have another account with over 2000 WN8 and blah blah blah, to which I replied saying that I'm really a wizard called f'tang The Seer.

I'd used the name a few times as a joke and this was the first time I claimed to be f'tang. It felt right so I stuck with it. The avatar was drawn by the great Bowser_nl, who drew multiple seals and has a thread for them in Off-Topic but appears to have stopped playing the game over a year ago.

My avatar is the Megatank from "Advance Wars 3, Dual Strike".

Originally developped by Green Earth nation (Germany more or less) it's adopted by all the in game nation and reverse engineered by Black Hole too (the enemy army).

It's the most powerfull land unit in game. Cost as a warship and, when fully operational and in ideal conditions, it's maingun can demolish in one shot every other land unit in game or seriously damage ships. It carry just 3 shells, so an APC to resupply it is a must.

After a discussion thread about fantasy tank in game where I post the gif, I tought it may be a really nice profile picture and set it on. :)

Captain Underpants - from a movie I took my Grandsons to see a while ago. The little sods say I look just like him - nothing could be further from the truth of course! (At least, that's what I tell myself!)  :sceptic:

I like daffy, his attitude and the fact things always go wrong for him, like with me. I found this pic of him peed off and used it ever since.

Also got a tattoo of that image too :).
