Will they ever consider nerfing these tanks...? Pointless to have another superheavy tank if these tanks can pen no matter what. High armor rating +gun that can make dmg no matter what

They don't often pen though. The Type 4 in particular is mediocre at best.

The thing is, Type 4 isn't overpowered, and type 5 neither really. They're broken, there's a difference. Should they be changed? Yes. By nerfing the derp and buffing the AP gun. Make the derp a meme cannon that's not really competitive but can be fun if the right target appears, and the AP gun the "good" choice, and maybe give the Type 5 the frontal shoulder weakspot that LITERALLY EVERY OTHER TANK WITH THE SAME ARMOUR DESIGN HAS, and they will be fine.

They rarely pen, but they don't have to. Plus WG will probably never nerf them, ammo is too expensive to run constantly. So people need premium time and premium tanks to run them. So it is against WG business plan to nerf them.

However, saying that I would be happy if they made the armour a little less ridiculous and made the derp gun twice as inaccurate and the gun handling worst.

These tanks are pretty terrible to play with, especially, if you don't use gold ammo yourself.

They are dead slow. They attract gold ammo even from the players who don't typically use it. Their accuracy is bad. The reload time is terribad. And if you have a low-profile medium, you can go point blank - they will not be able to aim at you.

Don't play "pick a boo" with them in a stand-off mode.

Its not your task to try killing superheavys with 2 Tier lowersin a 1on1. That’s the job of your equivalent heavy. You can support by trying to flank or load premium ammo.

teir weakness is a long reload and no mobility. Use their disadvantages to your advantage and outplay them.

ok I have to admit black Prince and tiger p are not very mobile either and it’s hard to be successful in that case, but I think you get the point. Try beeing smart or just permanently destroy their tracks, so they can’t get back to cover and your teammates get the job done.

Just started the 4 and the 14cm AP is by far the better choice anyway for decent players. You can reliably pen those you need to (although the VK B that schooled me yesterday was a painful reminder that im not immune) and your HE also provides adequate dangers to those TX hull down. I will ofc try the derp on the type 5 (cause I got no choice) but I would rather have a decent AP on that too

Very unlikely, for now at least, even though they should completely rework them.

There is easy solution to both tanks. Take away the derp guns.

It really is that simple.

My biggest gripe with the type 4/5 is that due to the flat armour it's effectively binary protection, 0 and 1.  Most tanks they meet cannot penetrate them frontally with standard ammo, but at the same time they can't bounce gold ammo from most of the tanks the meet, hell I've seen ice cubes with more resistance to HEAT.

My solution (and this will sound crazy but I'm going somewhere with it) is to nerf the armour so that most same tier tanks and some of the lower tier ones can penetrate them with normal rounds and so all lower tier tanks can with premium.  And then buff the HP noticeably to compensate for the newfound unreliability of the armour.

It sounds crazy but it would achieve WGs stated goal of making them feel like intimidating mobile bunkers (they would basically be a TOG-II with the turret of a KV-2) as going 1v1 with an advancing one would feel like trying to solo the leviathan.  But at the same time it would also make sure nobody felt useless against them, it would even promote teamwork to burn them down.

As for the hated derp gun I would say either leave the standard round as is because a 1100 HE shell is not actually OP for tier (it's 70 DPM more than the O-Ho has at tier 8) or nerf it to 900-1000 and buff the RoF (reducing oneshots without nerfing DPM).  And change the gold HE round to an AP round with decent pen (it's a naval cannon so premium AP makes more sense than APCR/HEAT would) and balance the alpha off the adjusted RoF to be competitive for tier but not broken.
