The "improved" Matchmaking prioritizes 3-5-7

They set a special MM rule that tier 3 doesn't see tier 5 anymore which causes tier 4 tanks to get matched as the bottom tier a lot. A lot of bottom tier 4's means only 3 players get to be the top tier as tier 6 which makes it more likely that you are one of the lucky 7 that get thrown against tier 8's.

try to skip or crind superfast tier 6,7 and 8, there is no point of play those tiers because you will be allways bottom, tier 4,5 and 9 is fun because you will be almost allways top tier.

Well, it's the same for all of us that regularly play tiers 4 to 6 I'm afraid. Not helped by WG flooding tier 8 with new premium tanks every 5 minutes. Having said that, tier 8 players constantly complain that they only see tier 10 games, so I'm still wrestling with the maths of that one. Despite that, many mid-tier players still manage to do well and 3-mark their tanks (not me though, as despite my best efforts I remain a noob).

For myself, I have recently started to grind the American turreted TD line, and do find that even as bottom tier (still 70% of games) I can often make a difference and finish in the top half of the team list, without spamming a fortune in premium ammo.

Just to point out that the game still offers quite a few options for finding enjoyment, if you are prepared to look for them. :)

Funny as on another thread someone is saying T6 is the place to learn.

I learnt the game on T5 mostly. Personally I think T6 is brutal because the power hike with T8 is huge. Ever tried to fight a Defender with a T6 Meduim? I've seen one on Overlord just park on the middle windmill inviting us to shoot him... I've just come from the T69 and even that thing is a monster vs T6.

Tin foil hat maybe but late at night tends to get you bottom tier more often...

Im sorry to say, buy you will be facing +2 tier enemies 99.5% times. And dont watch youtube whore videos where they review tanks in games against 2 tier lower enemies, they live from wg handouts.   So best spot atleast for me was at tier 7...and even then some tanks at that tier seen almost always tier 9, but some had 50/50 games where other half was vs 7s. But lower tier enemies you will see very rarely.

And those three special ones who always are 2 tiers higher thank you are some special kids with special mm.  At tier X you will have almost all games vs tier X, but when you play tier 8, you will always see three tier x and same with 5x tier 9s.  So dont get your hopes up in thinking that as soon as you hit max tier you will have a seal clubbing time, that mm is reserver for youtubewhres

T9 is the clubbing tier I've found...

I've recently got an T54E1 and it gets the same MM as T8s essentially. Occasionally you'll have T10/T9 splits but mostly you'll get 7 T8s on the enemy team to bully.

It still is.

  • It's the lowest tier where you get the full mm range
  • You get the full range of vehicle tyes (like tier 5)
  • Battle costs are still relatively low
  • Income is decent  (like tier 5), you are not going to make an instant loss of credits through tapping the 2 key once like you will in the low tiers, or just generally at the higher tiers if you are still learning
  • It's easy to get to (like tier 5)

Tiers 5 and 6 have always been the best tiers to really start learning the game.

It seems to me tier 6 heavies are much more often bottom tier than tier 6 lights.
