I want to grind a medium tree but i couldn't decide. What are the strong points and weak points of the trees overall?

Never played e50m. I wanted to like AX, given that Cent was a beast IRL, but I just found it a bit boring. Others like it though.

Weak points of the E50 tree would probably be the Panthers thanks to low alpha pew-pew guns that look ridiculous. Even when the Panther II gets the 88mm, the penetration is ok but the premium shells you need for tier 10 are lacking. That said, I played it before it go the L/100 gun so that might be different. They're second line support mediums without the mobility to flex effectively and they're big tanks so the camo values are bad. Earlier in the line, the Pz. IV H is good fun with the 105mm derp and the VK 30.02 (M) is one of my favourite mid-tier tanks.

The British also have pew-pew guns and flat armour until tier 8 but they get mobility and gun depression to make up for it. I haven't kept either Panther but the Cromwell would be a keeper if I didn't have a Cromwell B and the Comet is a fixture. I've also held on to the Covenanter because that's a laugh with the Bofors 4-shot auto-loader and the Crusader was the first tank I 3-marked, though it has to be said that the requirements are low because so many players rush through it to get the Cromwell.

My grind of both lines has stalled, the Germans at the E50 and the British at the Centurion I. I'd pick them up again but I've been enjoying the Russian medium grind more for whatever reason. Maybe once I've got a hover-med in my garage I'll go back to them. :)

I did both, finished the E50M line and currently at Centurion I.

in the Brit line, Crusader was totally awful, but hey, it's tier 5.

maybe they changed gun options since, but I remember I had a gun with around 60 pen and they made the thing medium tank, so no more camo on the move. I wished I had a bot to to the botting for me.

then, the Comet was also a pain to play - the gun has 145 pen (tier 7 !!) damage and something around 140, gold rounds are painfully expensive.

at tier 8, the grind is still painful until you get gun & turret, and then you can start to enjoy to matter on the battlefield by using you armored turret and accurate high pen gun.

Panther II was horrible.

Mind you, I played this tank before understanding camo, so my crew was not trained in camo at all so I got instaspotted as soon as any enemy had line of sight on me, and then shot to pieces. The Panther II is (was?) slow and the armor doesn't work, and when I did grind it, I think my gun had 150 pen and 135 damage or something like that.

I think they added the 8.8 203 pen at some point.

Now it's easier with the long 8.8 that has 225 pen, at least one does some damage.

Today I guess the Panther II can be ground in the same way as a Tiger II - train camo on your crew and crawl at the back while sniping.

You need the top 6-pdr gun. With a rammer and vents you can get the reload down to 1.86s with 110mm pen using AP, 180mm with APCR. The alpha is only 75 but that doesn't matter because there'll be another shell on its way very soon. I wasn't a fan of it being made into a medium despite being largely the same tank as the Covenanter and sold it not long after as IMO the T-34 is a better pew-pew medium on tier 5 with the 57mm gun.

both have strengths and weaknesses but IMO the E50 is the sweet spot and far better than the cent 7. go with that line but then dont bother buying the E50M

I played the Panther line to E50M as my very first line last year, and now I am at Centurion 1 in the British line.

As a first line the way to E-50M is "borked", as you have a mix of 3 lights and 2 heavies, before you finally get a medium tank- not good for crew development (or invest quite some gold)  (and Strappster is wrong, PzIVH is not part of this line) . I hesitate to make a detailed comment on the line, as it was my first one, and to a large part I didn't know what I was doing :) But based on my stats, I faired very well in the E-50.

Brit line is "cleaner" in its progression (no heavies), tier 1 medium, 3x light, and then just mediums. I didn't like the Cromwell and Comet (though the Cromwell B premium seems to work well for me...), the fully upgraded Centurion 1 on the other hand feels like a fine tank.

I have both the e50M and the Centurion Action X the tier X at the top of both lines. I kept the e50 and the Centurion 7/1 because I quite like both of the tier IX s for different reasons.

I disliked both tier VIII's - the Centurion mk.1 and the Panther II and sold them immediately after the grind was over.

The tier VII's I kept the Comet for awhile as it was quite fun before eventually selling it, the Panther got sold immediately after the grind was done.

At tier VI I have kept the Cromwell which is fun and useful in tier VI Team matched, Shortholds, and Clan Wars. The vk 30.02(m) is a good tier VI that I kept for awhile as it was enjoyable before selling.

At tier V the german line used to have the Pzkw IV(H) which is almost the best tier V tank, however the tech tree has been changed and the tier V option is now vk 30.01(H) which is not as good.

My marginal preference is the UK line of the two, but neither are as good as any of the USSR medium lines, or even the USA medium line.

Centurion 7/1 is one of my favorite T9 meds, followed by the AMX 30 Prot..

Played 1,4K games on the 7/1 out of my 40k games, I played almost every tank in WoT so that should give you a clue :-). Win rate is 56,30% which ain't bad in my book.

The AX is less fun to me, only 88 games so far. In T10 I rather play Leopard, Obj 140 and T63.

CAX is a better tree to grind, but I enjoy the E50M more.
