We all like a good fester but devoid of another topic, who is going to Tankfest? Ive never been before but fancy it this year. 15 sovs for a day at the tanks sounds ok.

OK not as good as the tank experience day my missus bought me forr xmas driving a tank (i will let you know when I crash/roll/make a knobofmyself on that one)...

Is it a good 'un or what?

"Don’t forget that your TANKFEST ticket allows you one year’s membership for free future visits, excluding Special Events."

I went a few years ago for the weekend with my son and some friends and we all had a good time.  Some beer was drunk and the museum is huge very good if you haven't been there before.  Got a free PzB2 from the WG stall too.

It's quite strange seeing a real Tiger and other kit being driven around.  The British tanks usually break down of course.

When I went you could buy tickets on the gate but more popular now so you need to book a few months in advance, especially if you want accommodation.

Actually, I might go again this year, thanks for the thought.

I think you only get to be in a tank, not drive it. But that part was too pricey to check.

Anyway, tankfest blew my mind. I loved it so much. So did my girlfriend, who has no interest in such things. I had a chat with quickbaby. I can't wait for this year's event.

Going to tankfest gives me this new mindset for playing wot. I realize what the game is really about, go past looking at stats and just enjoy the beauty and the passion of it .

I was at Tankfest 2017 and will be returning for Tankfest 2019. As for driving a tank, LittleJump and I drove a "tank" at the Irish War Museum. It was, in reality, an APC but fun :)

I think I was there the same year as you BD

There is a great campsite in Wool within an easy walk across the fields to the fest... took us about 30 minutes, but we had zimmer frames to drag along :)

Wool

Wool has plenty of amenities within easy walking distance from Whitemead, such as The Black Bear and The Ship Inn along with 2 small supermarkets, butchers, bakers, hardware shop, Chinese takeaway and a fish and chip shop. Wool Railway station is just a 5 minute walk from our entrance, as are the bus stops for easy links to Weymouth, Dorchester and Poole, even London Waterloo. We are a short distance to Monkey World and Bovington Tank Museum.

A couple of good pubs nearby that also do good grub

Me tank day is actually an APC jobber, somewhere in Leicestershire, but its a driving jobbie:).

In an adeal world I can convince the missus to take the camper van down but thats bloody risky given its a proper OLD VW that will take a week to get there...

Be ace to put names to nicknames
