My take on version 1.0 (+?)

So, I played it a couple of weeks now and here is my verdict:

 

 

1) First of. The game really does not look better for me. Yes I know I'm playing with everything on the lowest settings but with thoose settings the old version looked better then this new one.


 

2) I'm getting huge fps drops when in sniper mode in some maps...and especially when looking through multiple bushes. Didn't have this problem pre 1.0....


 

3) Most new mapchanges are just plain dumb. Sorry WG...but there is no way I can sugercoat that one...


 

4) So many maps have been removed. Still there is mostly corridor maps and the game and more corridors seem to be on the way...why not remove lights and arty already and be done with it?? (*sarcasm*, for thoose that didnt get it...I'm a light tank spotter type player).


 

5) Bugs with ambient sounds. I even have ambient sounds turned to 0 and STILL I sometimes get HUGE sounds when driving close to some objects in the game (on some maps). On one map there is a hugely irritating sound of airplanes....


 

6) The contact list still doesn't work properly. Bravo on that one (*sarcasm*)


 

7) The gameplay is horrible. It seems the patch has attracted the worst of the tomatoes back and meta is like you couldn't believe...


 

8) Matchmaking....well....I don't like it still....

 

 

9) Bugs with camera going boncus on some maps...like Himmelsdorf...


 

I could probably go on but I think I'll stop here. Although I might come across as a doomsday profet or something I have not lost hope. I at least hope that WG from now on can focus on gameplay stuff, ironing out bugs and also optimizing the game for us less fortunate  :P

If i may add to that...

 

10) Rocks and buildings hitboxes still have problems in the HD maps even though some of these problems existed in the SD maps.

I forgot one of the most annoying features introduced with the HD maps besides the FPS drop in Prokhorovka and Murovanka (for example)...

 

11) Some bushes gives you camo and some don't and i don't mean the degree of transparency or the value of camo i mean you might get spotted from some distance while entirely concealed in a bush sitting still and not firing. One good example are the bushes on top of the hill in Prokhorovka, i really can't work those anymore with efficiency!!!

 

Also the bushes in the middle of Fisherman's Bay, their height makes them only suitable for low profile tanks. They would hide an IS3 very well but they won't hide a bulldog!!!

I can extend on point 5) and just say that sounds OVERALL are buggy. And a lot. Starting from no hit-sound (when you get hit, usually by unspotted vehicle, the sound does not play; or is that a "feature" now?) all the way to sounds completely not working the way they should (I got one battle where sound was very much f***ed - engine sound was half-working, shot sound didn't work at all (only the "echo" from the aftershot, if that makes sense), crew voice didn't work properly and hit sound didn't play at all...).

Points 10) and 11) I can partially agree on - I feel like spotting is a bit broken currently, I feel like I can't spot tanks I previously could spot easier... (And also, is it just me, or did russian tanks get harder to spot? And I'm talking even russian heavies, they usually outspot me in the max viewrange...)

Camera going berserk when you pass close to an object is my main issue.
