So playing the T-44 against tier 10 was a real pain in the [edited]for me so I decided i was going to try to change that. So on goes the 122 and i add full HE and press the battle button. First battle in i rolled a CDC for 666 dmg and i'm quite satisfied with this playstyle. I was able to kill a Type 5 from just splashing under him and finally now i can take revenge on all those Skorpion Gs

If you thought the T-44 with the 122 is bad then you're probably right but it's still fun

T-44 is now one of the best meds in this game, zero need for HE.

For its tier, the T-44 is a great tank currently, you get a very good turret, excelent mobility, 7 degrees of gun depression and an OK gun...

if you face tier 10's, you can allways load apcr wich is ok, and you get even better shell velocity.. turning sniping more reliable...

I wouldnt really recomend you to play the 430 or above, without "mastering" the T-44 gameplay... because if your struggling with the T-44, you will struggle just the same with the 430, your up a tier... but you also face better tanks, and i warn you, the difference of gameplay between tier VIII and and IX - X  is significant..

Mobility wise, the T44 is a lot faster than the other two tanks. In terms of firepower, the T44 sports a medium tank "normal" gun. A 100 mm with 250 alpha that's relatively accurate for its tier and caliber. The other two tanks, 430 and 430u, on the other hand have derpy 122 mm with high alpha and a lot of armor both in the turret and the hull.

Honestly i don't see the similarities in gameplay, the T44 is a cute little medium that can do a lot of things. The 430 and 430U are in your face brawlers. The 430U got more armor than some tier 10 heavies! :)

The #1 gun is 100MM. Wanna do 122 be my guest but if you know how to aim you will dish out more damage with 100MM as you do 2x more shots.

With 100MM you are bigger support for your team mates when you face tier 10.

HF

ps. i feel like a prostitute playing any tier 8 at this moment. Can't remember games without tier 9-10.

T-44 *IS* grindy and boring.

Reason: The premium equivalent is near identical, and you need to unlock 2 tier 9 tanks using T-44 *and* a ton of exp just for modules like those engines.

The Premium is flat out better. It was originally given far better terrain resistances but a much weaker engine of 520hp, 40hp below the stock T-44 one to balance them out. The Premium now has the same 760hp of the 3rd (top) engine of the T-44, with no TR changes, and can climb the Malinovka hill at around 45 k/ph. It also has sideskirts which while offering minimal protection, they are raised above the body of the tank, so occasionally shots go through them and hit fresh air on the other side.

While the T-44 elited is improved, it's still a huge XP sink:

Engines: T-44 has three, totaling 53xp if you want to have the top engine

Turret: 20.4k XP

Tracks: 13.4k. The T-44 stock tracks are far more limiting and wont let you upgrade the turret (and 3 of the 5 guns) without them.

Guns: 37.5k if u dont have the D10T from the IS/KV3

If you dont have 50k free xp saved up to upgrade tracks, turret and gun on the T-44, you'll be pitched into tier 9 & 10 battles with the same gun from the T-34-85 at tier 6

The thing is i got the T-44-100 before even starting soviet med line. Played it a lot because it was fun, even before the buff.

Currently unlocking third engine of T-44, the sheer thought of having to unlock both T-54 and Obj430 with it is just bleeeeh. No LTTB is *not* an option, that wobbly flippy tank with no gundep is just eww with new physics.

Then to think i'd keep using T-44-100 even after that. You get saturated you know?

All u need to do to make the t44 ot t44 100 fun is press w and go fight. Its one of the best t8 meds now since the buff, it accelerates like a light, great as a scout hunter and is an excellent flanker.

Top tier its Op as the t6 and t7 scouts struggle to pen it while ur hammering them with shots and ramming them.

My goto t8 medium.

Too bad that means nothing, when most tier 8 games are against tier 10 tanks.

And T-44-100 is better in pretty much every way.

So did I miss out then on the T44 100, how does that compare to the T44?

I come from a time when the panther tier 7 was better than the t44 but I bought it back recently for the grind and as someone said earlier I didn't feel like it was a grind. I also hate tier 8 for the reasons you outlined, my 8's  are mostly for clan stuff .

T-44-100 was a marathon prize in 2016. This was when WG sold tokens instead of the bundle deal we got with the Prosecco so when it does come up for sale, it's expensive for a tier 8 medium because it's got to match the token prices.

I probably wouldn't buy one now because of the cost but at the same time I wouldn't be without mine as it was a fun tank to play before it got buffed and now it's even better, largely because, as mentioned, it has the same ground resistances as the tier 10 Russian hover-meds (T-62A, Object 140). Comparing it to the T-44, it has marginally better gun bloom figures and roughly the same power/weight with half the ground resistance.

I'm currently part-way through the T-44 grind and agree that it's been one of the best grinds despite my having used my free xp on the Leopard PTA. I slapped on some personal reserves, used the top 85mm gun and wasn't shy with the '2' key until I researched the 100mm LB-1 gun. Still using the stock engine, almost have enough xp for the second engine. I was going to grind through it and move the crew on to the T-54 with thoughts of getting the Object 140 before I went up the 430 tree but it's been such a good grind that I'm tempted to stick with it until I've researched everything.

Regarding paper tanks, the 100-mm gun can use HE, too.

T-44-100 is the same as T-44, except it has better gun handling and much better mobility. There is no real reason for that, but just .... WG reasons.

T-44 is an ok tank for me, I dont mind playing it, casually grinding for Object 430. If not for that I would probably not play it, at all.
