I know how to scout.

But it takes two to party.

If you scout all game long in Prokhorovka, "surfing" the central hill across the middle line like a demented chicken and your team mates still dont hit sh*t, you are obliged to go back and snipe .

Simple as that.

Can't say I've noticed a lack of scouting.

I have noticed an increase in STUPID scouting, where some French light goes screaming off into the distance and dies inside 30 seconds, and then spends the rest of the game lambasting the team.  Of course, the fact that his spotting was all OUT OF RANGE of the slower tanks isn't relevant to him.

I know how to scout, first get your kerchief and woggle, then learn the mantra: Arkela we'll do our best! Or maybe that's the cubs? But anyway they're scouts too, just smaller, and younger!

Well. Passive spotting is pretty boring and scouting in general isn't really fun anymore because of the bad mapdesign and powercreep.

You are so right

I am a light player myself and i do not always scout....scouting is a role not a class...every class can scout....some classes being more effective than others....ex lights with camo bonus on the move

Now the problem... In the start you can clearly see what tds and meds are in support position or not...so as i mostly play good dpm lights sometimes i refuse to scout for noone or for just one tank....i play safe....i play for my fun not for other people's fun (enemy or teammate)

If you go anywhere near forward you are always spotted, always tracked repeatedly and always dead shortly after. Drive as fast as you like, hide as much as you like, the result is inevitable.

Just play light tanks yourself. You are so good at it that you would win basically every game. I mean, all you need to do is to sit in a bush.

I am still learning to scout, I will get the hang of it one day, worse still is when you are busy scouting around and lighting things up, then you realise your team have just melted:trollface:

Fun is getting in a Panzer 1 C whilst listening to the Benny Hill theme music, and do it in a toon of them:rolleyes:

It started happening when they stretched lines to t10 scouts, and it became far worse with this t-100 lt grind.

On the upside, i can also tell you as a scout, that when you have a scout who might not perform perfectly, if you shoot him in the back with HE, he will be less inclined to scout in the future.

And on top of that, team mates shoot you when they think you are doing badly, and enemy arty primaries you because now they have the aim time and the reload to do so.

PS: After writing the above, i got 1 shotted by a Grille (t5 arty) in my t6 light.

Fun .....

I wasnt talking about suicide scout of my part. I know enough to spot and at the same time stay alive, at least in Prokhorovka.

The best scout tank is a heavy tank.

It's funny how all those TD and heavy players think with you as how to scout in your little light. Yes, I can go to the place you ping me to go to on the map, but no, it won't be very useful as I'd be dead.

Or getting comments asking me to go scout, while the assisted damage goes tilt while sitting in some bush.

Write to WG. Ask to add spotting & tracking dmg to per-vehicle API stats.

That way ratings can use them and there is incentive for LTs to scout. Currently to get good WN8 in LTs you have to farm dmg. Spotting is not considered for WN8 and many care about that. You may not care about WN8, but many of the LTs you see sniping from redline sure do.

No, these stats are not currently there. Yes, I know some of you think they are, it's because you haven't checked.

Sadly, many light drivers seem to think they are in heavies and dive straight for the nearest city or corridor. If they even stayed back to snipe it would make more sense...

For as long as I have been playing the game, the vast majority of people playing scouts have no idea how to play well. So nothing new, as far I am concerned. However, this lack of insight isn't limited to those playing light tanks. Most of the time, people fail to take proper advantage. Poor positioning, despite clear and timely communication as to what to expect, even worse target prioritisation and generally an utter disregard for information provided through spotting.
