Terrain Tessellation possibly causing delay.

Hey guys I just wanted to give a heads up about this setting. After 1.0 with pretty much maxed out setting I noticed everything wasn't a fluid as it usually was despite good fps, some sort of minor but annoying delay, so I turned all setting to the lowest possible on the standard client, this seemed to completely remove the problem and it feelt very fluid. Got sick of ugly graphics after a while and decided to [edited]it I'll play with the minor delay. I started playing around settings and after I turned of terrain Tessellation it more or less completely disappeared again.  

 

Just a heads up if things are feeling a bit off while you're playing, could be this.

What does tessellation actually mean, sounds like you get beamed up to WG HQ on the dark side of the moon?

Not 100% sure, but I think it's got something to do with Nikola Tesla:hiding:

Reducing shadow quality is something else that can make a big difference and I can't see much difference between high and ultra shadow quality when I'm playing (GTX 760 2MB, most settings on high or maximum).

AFAIK tessellation is the the recreation of a surface as a mesh of triangles connecting elevation points.  The only thing that I can think it does in game is change the resolution of the surface mesh that the textures are draped on, but I don't know that.

That does indeed seem to be creating a complex surface rather than the traditional bump mapping you would normally see.  No wonder it gives some systems issues.
