What does Mutz actually mean? The graphics on the tank are of a bear but I can't find any correlation between bear and Mutz in German.

Anyone?

Swiss-German for bear (link - schweiz is German for Switzerland; second link for corroboration).

Heh, it's actually Swiss German (Berndeutsch, apparently).

It seems to translate to 'short' or 'stubby', referring to the tail of the bear. The theme was likely chosen as a reference to the canton of Bern (its coat of arms features a bear), where the Panzer 58 was designed, manufactured (Eidgenoessische Konstruktionswerkstaette Thun) and where the last surviving '58 can be found.

59 patton-

PRO's: the gun handling is good the alphas typical 90mm with OK 2k base DPM, mobilitys OK, a good all rounder with very good 400 base viewrange.

CON's: holy sh** its ugly! that cupola is like a tier 1 tank stuck on top of it! the armors pretty bad as a whole and the mantle is a giant hole behind it. its a mutant and a half.

FV4202-

PRO's: Good base pen, the armor can troll bounce tier 10 guns. its rather mobile and it looks sexual as a tank, a slight bump and the UFP is autobounce and the accuracy is pretty dam good too.

CON's: the armor is RNG. a tier 6 will pen your turret face 1 second and next you bounce a Tier 10 gold round i really dont like it (i have it). the aimtime of the gun is WAY too long, coupled with terrible base DPM and super low 230 alpha and very expensive shells, 20 pounder is a BAD gun.

KV-122-

PRO's: its basically the old KV-1S bumped up a tier, its basically a slightly different IS! typical 122mm gun with OK stats. personally its a rather good tank only because it can smash people attier 7 for 390 alpha with same dpm as the FV4202..a tier 8..., the pens enough and the gold ammo is acceptable. troll armor as standard coz RASHAA!

CON's: Armors not great, speedy tho. typical bad 122mm aimtime, honestly its a decent tier 7 with not much "wrong" with it.

Panther8.8-

PRO's: It used to be better than the tech tree panther untill that got buffed with a new gun, this thing has better than average DPM at 2.2k base. it looks like a sexy block of steel, 390 viewrange is pretty good too, 0.31 accuracy! thats like.. HOLY SH** levels of accuracy for a medium.

CON's: its a big unarmored box with only 8 gundep so cresting ridges is a death scentance. the guns not THAT great for the sluggish boxy platformwith rather poor camo. the guns just not good enough for the drawbacks of the platform, could do with a buff.

Pz38Muts-

PRO's: its a very troll armored medium with good all roudnedness, its not amazing at anything its just OK at everything. poking ridges with its wierd shaped turret can result in some very funny bounces from big guns, 90mm gun is OK but not great, like most tier 8 mediums with single shot 90mm guns, at least its got 212pen standrd and a pretty good 259apcr gold round.

CON's: its a 90mm medium at tier 8 with nothing "good" going for it. the dpm aint that good. the pens OK but the handling is abit bad and the platform asa whole is pretty paper, relies on lucky bounces, and a tier 8 medium cant survive off luck alone. another generic tier 8 medium that got shafted by the MM, not a bad tank. but not good enough in current MM (like all 90mm mediums).

And thats all. i put some effort in coz i like explaining tanks to other people...usualy in a more rage-way tho. :teethhappy:

Type 59 patton

+ uniqueness factor, it's ugly as myself :(, can somewhat bully lowtiers

- subpar gun, subpar armour, subpar mobility

FV 4202

+ troll armour, good pen (doesn't need prem ammo)

- subpar mobility, terrible aimtime, terrible alpha damage

Panther 8.8

+ nothing

- bad armour, bad mobility, mediocre gun

Mutz

+ good mobility, good gun

- no armour, mediocre pen

KV 122

+ best deal imo, old KV1s only one tier higher, huge uniqueness factor, loads of fun, is a lowtier so gameplay is easier

- shoot once then reload until your beard grows

FV4202 is the only i dont have.. used to but sold it ages ago when it was terrible :(

Pros -

Great gun depression and workable turret armour when against equal and lower tier opponents.

Very respectable gun for a tier 8 medium tank.

Hull armour can actually bounce as well, due to the angle of it.

Its sexy

Cons -

Lower than average alpha for a tier 8 med.

While the turret is a pro when in good MM, it doesn't work in bad MM

Lower DPM compared to the other tier 8 British meds, (Cent 1, PVic(Swedish technically but still a brit tank) , New Cent 5/1)

So...you still wouldent want it? its still terrible :P buffing the speed to acceptable levels and the armor not bouncing anything still dident make it a better tank sadly. as long as that wet noodle of a gun is on there anyways.

I mean i had it when it came out with 35 km/h and pretty much 10 times worse in every respect. Played 2 games in it and then nope and sold

I just want to 3 mark it to be honest, Would look nice on that tank

I have always been interested by the 59/Patton.

Never got around to buying it.

The look of the vehicle and it's history are intriguing.

You do know the "history" of it is completely fake, yes?

59-Patton is just awesome. Almost never see one, so you get people pulling shots in places where they do nothing, good view range, good gun. And what is not to like about having an American turret on a Chinese tank. As cons, there is the crew mortality, modules, and that IT IS NOT A TUMOR cupola.

Fv4202 is the most cool looking and the hardest tank to meet imo.

If you want a tier 8, 59 patton or FV4202. Being able to hull down is probably the most valuable trait a tier 8 med can have. None of the options are really is great with today's MM.

KV-122 might be fun if you don't have a tier 7 soviet yet. Tier 7 MM is much more enjoyable than tier 8 at the moment. But you won't make as much credits.

I'd go for 59 Patton.

I have none of them, but judging from encounter then in battle I say FV. The turret and the gun depression can be used on some maps. The speed of the tank is not bad after the buff so you can get into position 90% of the time, depending in the MM. The gun is nice, but falls behind 8.8's gun.

I'd rather use a T-54 Mod 1 than the FV4202...

It's far more nimble and the gun handles quite a bit better.

Thanks Stappster and Aikl. The Swiss are so proud of their local dialects - no-one in Zürich had the faintest idea what I was talking about.

Aikl, have you been to the tank museum in Thun?

No, sadly. Not exactly from that area (of Europe) - I just have a casual interest in heraldry/vexillology (man, it's annoying to see the Swiss flag as a rectangle).

Really curious if the basis for the Mutz' theme is just the assumption that Berners are obsessed with bears. :D

Out of that bunch it is easier to say that Panther 8.8 is just plain terrible. Don't touch that.

Personally I think KV122 is the better choice, as tier 8 matchmaker is throwing you in tier 10 games almost all the time. There are very few tier 8 premium tanks that can handle the current MM.

P.S. nice to see you back man :honoring:
