So i like the look of the Cromwell B but i'm a bit worried about whether it is still a good tank that is worth spending money on. I know that the Cromwell used to be very good and very common but is now not so good and not so common so i was wondering if the Cromwell B is also in the same position.

Basically, do you think that the Cromwell B is a good tier 6 medium anymore or has it been outclassed overtime by tanks like the t34-85m?

Yes. It's a light/medium and while it's not great at firing on the move, it's got a fast reload and excellent mobility. I may be biased as I traded my T-34-85M in against a Pudel because it was too boring to play but I don't regret it for a moment.

Don't forget that you also get a BiA crew, that's worth adding into the evaluation. :great:

Oh ok, it does look very fun to play. Also i forgot about  the BIA crew that you get which makes it seem like a better deal

Erm, kinda.

However... the gun is pure potato launcher. This didn't used to be an issue, as most things it would face when it was released had equally potato gun handling or no armour to speak of. Given you'll now spend 75% of your games needing to actually aim to pen Tier VIIIs, it becomes an issue.

Another problem it now faces is VII/VIII scouts - in the old MM template, the Cromwell excelled at scout hunting; mobility, HP, RoF, and the option to ram, meant you could happily hunt down ELCs and the like... Now, it has to deal with VII/VIII lights with more HP, alpha, and HP.

Last point of consideration - mid-tier, the map meta still isn't suited to lightly armoured meds like Cromwell (and CDC, etc). At least the swarms of 34-85Ms and Sherman clones have some armour. Cromwell is penned by everyone above and below it.

That said... charging about at 60km/h+ and driving it like you stole it is still a hoot.

Good points here that I hadn't really considered, perhaps as I haven't played the Bromwell for so long. (Also perhaps this is the reason behind that decision)

Still, a 3 man platoon of these are a deadly force even vs tier VIIIs, particularly if you all spam APCR.

Yeah as dunc said.  A hoot until you come to need to aim and shoot. Then you wish you are in any other tank

It's pretty nice, but it's not an 85M

It used to be. But nowadays?

Haven't played a single battle in a long, long time. 1.0 has probably made things a bit easier, as there are less city maps in rotation. But the more armour your enemies have, the less fun (and profit) CrommyB will be.

Ok thanks for the replies. I think i may hold off for a bit, considering i have a t34-85m. I do like the look of the tank but i think the annoying gun handling would irritate me a lot.

Only good for autoaim circle, otherwise pretty trash.

Back when Tier VI was basically wall to wall Hellcats and KV-1S, the ultimate wolfpack platoon was three Cromwells, with one running the 3.7". Just scream around the map pouncing on unsuspecting/isolated tanks - 3.7 used for either tracking the KV, or wiping 400hp off the Hellcat. Circle target as a trio autoaiming until dead, then run away before his team can react.

Depends on how you play it. Cromwell is not a sniper tank etc. Or a good support tank at med to long range like the T-34-85M can be. But... it's mobility and camo makes it more flexible then the T-34-85M. The Russian is a great brawler due to the armor and alpha combo. But if you have a driver and gunner with a few skills on them. And area to move, you can outplay one of those easy still.

Not much has changed tbh since it came. Armor never did work on it. It needs open areas to move on, and isolated targets to be most effective. So if you look out for small isolated battles you can bounce on and bully flank to help out. It's as good as it ever was. Even better if you are in a med wolf pack and group on targets 1 by 1. Then it's more effective IMO then the T-34-85M will be. Even vs higher tiers. If they are distracted, not aiming at you lot and you move in on a tier 8 tank with auto aim and starts to circle it. It has no chance vs 3 of them.

So IMO.. it's still the best bully med on tier 6. And I still enjoy it, even in the current meta.

Still a pretty solid tier 6 med.

I have kept or bought as prem meds at t6  Cromwell B, VK 3001 D, Fury , T34-85M and Strv 57.

Maybe its the best after the Fury for me.

The only thing that bothers me, as suggested by fellow forumites above, is the aiming time / aiming circle bloom.

If you have reached the Centurions at t9 or 10 and your crew is good, you can put it in the Crom B and have a blast

Cromwell has similar gun handling to it .... honestly at the same gold price, i prefer the Type 64. :)

It's still a decent T6 med. But T6 meds are crap against T8 heavies which they meet a lot these days.
