I downloaded the Autoaim+ mod to try out, but before I used it I looked at the file settings and found references to auto use of repair and heal items.  Thinking that this was awfully suspicious, even if they are legacy entries, I deleted the mod files.  It got me thinking though; are such functions allowed?  I have seen some vehicles move almost unimpeded after I have tracked them, with a small loss of speed, while I myself get ripped off in one direction and plough to an almost stop before I can repair, at my fastest.

Edit - I wanted to add, AFAIK the auto use of fire extinguishers was countered with a delay before the manual item could be used.  As there are no prem auto repair or heal items in the game, does this affect things somehow?

Iirc you are not allowed to use mods that trigger normal consumables as if they were premium ceonsumables. But i have to dig a bit.

Edit: Found it.

I think WG mentioned something like that when they first introduced their fair play policy so yes it is possible i guess. They also mentioned mods that change some specs of the vehicles, always wondered what specs can be changed? :)

The FPP states that "Software that enables the automatic use of non-Premium consumables" will be penalised, which isn't great because the mod pack you found those options in may only apply to premium consumables or they might be legacy options for disabled functionality or they may be in breach of the policy.

Further evidence were it needed that the FPP needs to be reviewed. Did you get the pack from the official portal?

Hmm.. AFAIK this is banned...

EDIT For the record, I don't know how that line popped up there.

EDIT 2 NVM, I see you already cleared this question.

I just got the mod itself from the WG forum thread that the Google search led me to.  The thread is old, but the OP updates the first entry when the mod is updated.  I am assuming that the mod packs include this very same version of the mod.  Do you think perhaps people that complain on the forum about getting banned while using legit mods are telling a half truth, and they are modifying mods to utilize legacy features?

Automatically triggering non-premium consumables is very clearly not allowed.

I've been using that mod and previous iterations for a long time though, don't recall anything about it ever having that functionality. Also it seems that just because some redundant code is in there it doesn't make it illegal as a mod, because it doesn't actually do the thing that's illegal.

You assume wrong.  It is not in Alsain's mod pack which is very popular, nor is it in Quickybaby's.  Citation: I have used both.

Autoaim+ is definitely in Aslain's modpack. Citation: I use Aslain's and have it installed.

Unless we're nitpicking about the name here, since it's called Autoaim Indication+ these days.

It's definitely in Aslain's as that is where I looked first.  I didn't want to download that as I didn't want any other mods. I think I'm just going to remain mod free.

No, I don't think it's intentional for the most part, though you'll always get some that think they can stretch the rules. I think a lot of players install a mod pack that they think is fine without realising it includes mods that are no longer acceptable. I certainly remember more than a few people in the past saying they'd download whatever pack and simply enable all the options in the installer because why not have everything?

OK show me a screenshot of that mod in Alain's pack.

I'll admit though,a VERY long time ago I used to have a mod, that auto-extinguished fires through the normal (i.e. basic) extinguisher.

I regret using it,because it doesn't help my twitching reflexes.

On topic: No,they were never allowed.

EDIT: The karma is now hitting back - every second shot to the sides of my KV-13 damages my fuel.

I changed my third consumable key from 6 to E. Very quick to ping the extinguisher then (note, may not apply if your keyboard doesn't have a UK layout).

It's like the other kits - my first aid kit is always on 4 because you can heal any other crew member once you're safe but if the driver gets hurt (also 4), you're at half-speed until he's healed. And my repair kit is always on 5 because tracks are on 5 - it's quicker to double-tap the same key when you need to move in a hurry.

I'd like totally and randomly guess for some odd reason that it would work just as good on AZERTY- (French) and QWERTZ- (German) as on QWERTY-keyboards.

And putting repair kit on 5 is a classic.

Also autoaim+ should also be banned. Nevermind what weasel lawyer speak can be used so say it's not illegal.

I believe it was modified back when the FPP was fresh so that you can no longer lock-on by clicking near a target, you've got to be on it to lock. Which begs the question of why on earth anyone's still using it over the vanilla version?

Same here apart from I changed number 6 to one of the 2 thumb buttons on my mouse. Means my thumb is always on the extinguisher button already.

I've got quick messages for "shoot this guy" and "reloading for ..." on thumb buttons, the latter for when I'm playing arty or auto-loaders. My push-to-talk is also on a thumb button because I have a noisy mechanical keyboard that triggers the mic no matter how I set up auto-detect.

It is so simple to use auto-repair.

What you do, is grind 30-40 million silver, and wait for a consumables sale.  Then, buy 1000+ each of premium consumables (1st aid, repair, & auto ex.), also, buy food.

Then, you have 1 click repair and no worries about fire.  Every time consumables on sale after, grind silver, and buy more.

I only play with premium consumables on tier 6+, and on lower tier grinds, I use auto ex with small 1st aid and repair.

It makes the game a lot more simple.

Isn’t that really aimed at manual vs. auto fire extinguishers though otherwise WG would seem to allow a mod that means you can select which modules you’d like to auto repair (that would be nice for tracks) only if you buy large repair kits?
