As the title says I press W to move forward and before removing finger tank stops. Re-press (or sometimes press harder) and off I go for a few more games before it happens again. This started months ago so I changed keyboard but recently it started again

There are a lot of things it is not. Not overheating, connection (cable), i7 cpu, GTX 980, 50 fps in window (100 fps full screen) 4k monitor, ssd, 750w psu.  Game has been re-installed since it started.

My best guess at the moment is that it's posture. In other words maybe I have suddenly started relaxing pressure on the key

Anyone else or suggestions welcome

I had a similar issue; it seems to me that since my fingers press rather strongly, it does something to the WASD keys, or rather to the (silicone rubber?) insert in the keyboard, which becomes permanently deformed. Perhaps try another new keyboard, however briefly, to see if it's a cure?

Have had occasionally similar problems, but they are not consistent. My best guess, too, would be it's a keyboard problem. For me, it comes and goes, so maybe it's just a particular angle or something.

If changing the keyboard sorted it out for some months then it's probably what Heiden says; the pressure you're putting on the keys is too much and the membrane is being damaged. Either invest in a stock of cheap keyboards or buy a mechanical one - considerably more expensive but the newer ones are being built with quiet switches so your computer room isn't going to sound as much like a 1970s typing pool!

Not pressing as hard is obviously the cheapest solution but I know exactly what you mean about pressing hard, I do the same thing. "Turn faster you recalcitrant bastard!"

It might also be not just pressing too hard, but pressing too quick, now that I think about it.

Oooh, that's a good idea! It would solve the "How do I try this without a new keyboard?" question. Arrow keys, though, eurgh, that means using the mouse cack-handed. Needs must, I suppose...

Or move the keyboard to the left (does not apply to laptops). I used to play CS like that and change weapons with the scroll wheel, though you'll probably need to remap all the ancillary keys such as your consumables, ammo type and if you're playing Frontline, additional consumables like recon flight and artillery barrage.

My WASD is now my IJKL. I hope I answered that question.

Note: can't turn left for over 15 seconds on FL, or else...

Ah. Cough. Apologies, it does apply to my laptop in fact, since I have messed the damn' thing's keyboard up and now have to use a plugin keyboard.... the "W" key on my "laptop" has actually come right off. Perhaps I should open another account, like QB's, and call it "Sausagefingers" or "Blacksmithfingers", or "Hammerhand".... :)

Did you check if any crud was under the key? I'm horrified by the stuff that can sometimes fall out when I turn my keyboard upside down and shake it. I'll have to take the covers off one day and give it a proper clean, it's earned that with years of service despite my ham-fisted attempts to play games.

Funny this happens to me sometimes too, but only with heavies!

Other tanks are not affected!

Started to happen in FL.
