I returned to the game around 5 months ago after a break of around 3 years and there is one thing that is really bothering me and that is the match making when in a platoon.

I play WOT to play with friends, honestly if I am playing alone I would rather spend my time playing something else MMO gaming for me at least is about playing with other people.

So with that in mind I have to ask the question why does it feel as though I am penalised when playing in a platoon? The amount of bottom tier games I get is noticeably more than when I play solo and the results (both win rate and my own performance) are significantly better when not in a platoon.

So why is WG penalising players for playing together, has this ever been explained? Like I say I have been gone a pretty long time and I am finding this aspect of the current game really frustrating.

Thanks in advance for any sane and/or serious answers! :)

Unfortunately you will have to ask WG in their infinite wisdom they decided to add "weight" to platoons.

I think WoT has to be the only game in MMO history that penalises teamplay

Open a support ticket, ask about it, say what you find here in the forum (complying with posting rules OFC) .

There has been no weight to platoons for about 7 years.

Platoons are matched against platoons, that does not work well alongside the 3-5-7 template.

Because teamplay is not important in a multiplayer game.....wait what?!?!?!

To some part I could have understood if maybe 3 man platoons where a little more weighted (cause tomatoes where crying cause they got rekt)...but 2 man platoons should not be weighted at ALL!!! That is ridiculus.

There was a time when you got XP bonuses in platoons ... this game could be so nice with so few adjustments is makes me sad.

All our platoons today were bottom tiers, the last in tiers IX we had in front of us a 46% wr player holding a hill alone with his 268 v4, shooting gold, ending at 5k damages (our team captured).

Yeaahhh ... fun ....

Ya sure , if you have 3 players in a platoon the MM will screw you.

Yes, but that's because of platoon matching and the 3-5-7 template, and the tank class matching.  Not because of any weighting.  The mm has to find a platoon of 3 the same tier to match you against, it also has to have the same types of tanks in the top 3, middle 5, and bottom 7.  It's much easier to slot two platoons into the bottom seven because it can do a bit of mix and match with other players to get the right distribution.

It will also screw you even if you are just 2, although less...

If your win rate and performance is worse when playing platoons compared to solo, then you're not really "teamplaying" at all in the first place.

This does not have to be true at all.

As many have already said here platooning punishes you severely and you are almost always two tier lower. Meaning that EVEN if you are two players your impact on the game is really diminishing and if you are not super-unicums...guess what...exactly that will happen (yes, winrate and performance can go down).

When your "team" try to motivate you by calling you monkeys and idiots then they get what they deserve.

A few months ago there was a platoon bug. An exploit where if you were to form a platoon and not invite anyone, you would have been top tier all the time. A famous streamer abused it for a bit, a lot of people tried it ... then WG intervened and "fixed it". From that moment I kinda gave up on platooning as almost every damn time me and my buddies we were bottom tier.

I am not saying they broke it then, it might have something to do with it, it might not, but that is when I remember it to start messing with platoons and punishing players who play with friends.

3-5-7 might also have something to do with this, as platoons should be matched against other platoons in theory.

...

Thing is, I stopped platooning a while ago. If not playing lights or tier 10s, it really is not that much fun.

It may not be called weighting but WG have stated that platoons are intentionally lower tier more often due to the influence they may have in the new template system.

Because you are not allowed to have fun in this game with friends.

This would be unfair to Johnny nomates

Unfortunately it just seems another case of WG solving an issue without thinking about the other consequences.

Find some serious friends to play with and win for your team . I'm enjoying playing plattons more than alone . Whats wrong with you ppl , Is that hard to fight some tier X in tier VIII? its only 3 of them ,enemy got tier VIII too , GO play tetris if you want something easier.

Everybody is like this " Oh , again lowtier   bla bla " when you should be happy that you have a chance to do more damage . But you all think like crap.
