Last day's I've noticed I often get in to the team with 'verdediger'. But I just now realized I only have the tank names active, and 'verdediger' is in fact the Dutch (my language) translation of Defender...

Can someone please explain to me why this is/which genious thought it was a good idea to change this :izmena:

Also, I like consistency, that doesn't make me authistic. I just like consitancy. So WHY does my team not contain a 'Schildpad', two Tijgers, and two Panters? Also I would like to see a 'Standaard B' and Schorpioen on the enemy side...

Please WG. THIS IS STUPID!

No I find this seriously annoying to see 'defender' as 'verdediger' on my team

Well, for one the 'Defender' isn't a real historical tank like the Tiger, and secondly it's just a WG designation for a special version of the Objekt 252U. I would guess it's the latter factor that is the reason for this.

But on a German language client (like mine) the 'Defender' does remain a 'Defender' and gets not translated.

So, it's not a very consistent practice, then. We also know that in the RU client it has a Russian name. I've also noticed that some other tanks like IS-3A have a different designation in Russian.

thats what I thought as well. Still they could pretend the defender is historically correct.

Future dutch translations: Tijger - Luipaard - Schorpioen - Schildpad - Wapendrager.

Because Wargaming cares about our (dutch) language.

But yes, silly to translate that name. I guess WG received complaints about the name not being translated & decided to honour it. (the name was Defender for a long time on the dutch client, dunno why they suddenly changed it)

Why would you play with your own language if you know english? I'm from Croatia, there's an option to play with everything translated to croatian, but I play with english, purely out of convenience for naming different equipment, consumables, etc.

I would like to add the following ones:

Muisje

Muis

Doorbreekwagen

Dikke Max

M7 Pastoor

M41 Wandelende Bulldog

Consistency is a great thing indeed

edit: and while we are at it, let's turn the T1 Cunningham into de T1 Lepe Hesp

Well, personally I use the Italian translated version because I found relaxing not having to translate from english to italian every sentence.

Yeh,I know, I'm such a lazy person... :hiding:

And BTW Defender still named Defender in italian client too.

On a more important note: where did your Elvis sherman go?

I couldn't resist using this GIF instead... It's just... When I found it, I had to keep it.

Had to shrink it and remove some frames from it though because the forums' settings have a limit for your profile pic image size, I think 100 kb...

I think we'd all just like it if you used a sensible number of letters in your words and quit hogging all the vowels.

So, noob question, where can I find the settings? Or do I need to download a new client? I never changed it myself, think it turned to Dutch automatically about a year ago.

In the Romanian client I also noticed that STG Guard is named „Gard” which translate as „Fence” that dosen't make any sense.... They are missing an "Ă" at the end of the word. The correct tranlation will be ”Gardă”.

Now this is interesting!

I have the english client enabled by default, but I could also put it in spanish( by all means I'm genetically english and speak it like a native, but I grew up in spain) and that would lead to interesting names:

Tiger: Tigre

Dicker max: Max Gordo(this sounds ridiculously funny)

Defender: Defensa

STG guard: STG "Guardian" (with the accent on the a, but I do not know the ASCII code on that)

etc etc
