I have a number of keepers in garage which have been roundly condemned by Forum experts as being completely under powered jokes.  And yet they somehow get the wins in solo games.  Any others to add to the list?

I am especially proud of the Mausbrecher as I do not often get any wins at Tier 8.

  • Mausbrecher (59% wins)
  • StuG IV (58% wins)
  • Matilda BP (58% wins)
  • TOG II* (56% wins)
  • M3 Lee (56% wins)
  • Pz 38 Na (56% wins)

You have made my day, young Sir.

For completeness, I might mention that I have 35% wins in the Skorpion G, which everyone knows is ridiculously over powered.

Tiger(p)
Matilda bp
D.w2
T-34-100

At least these I liked a lot and did well in even though they are commonly despised on the forum.

Although the more I play different tanks, the more I feel forum is just filled with whiney bunch of people venting it out after a bad game.

I'll just count myself in that group, too.

Jeepers, how did I forget the Douchewagen.  59% wins in that one.

I was warned not to grind or buy every single one of these. Some have had several topics made to warn others. And I love every single one of them.

Excelsior 68% WR after 208 games: Keep front towards enemy and hold down the left mouse button

Swedish Leo 65% WR after 201 games: More versatile and more fun then the Comet in the bully/spotter role

Großtraktor 63% WR after 262 game: I prefer this for crew training over the terrible T25 tbh

Matilda IV 62% WR after 626 games: Yes.. over 600 games with 86 average pen and the P2W 102 gold pen. Mostly due to the fact it was the only Russian med Crew trainer for years.

Chi-Nu-Kai 62% WR after 581 games: Trained every med crew from tier 6 to X, as I did keep every one of them. It has zero battles with 6th sense

St.Emil 60% WR after 276 games: I actually did like this more then the ISU at one point.. It just worked for me.

AT-15A 59% WR after 397 games: It was "meh" when it came, but the pref MM buff and HD model made it fun.

Churchill Gun Carrier 59% WR after 329 games: What can I say. It's a wandering meme every game I play in chat. And it usually farms rather well. Even more so after the gun go buffed.

you have just quoted my list of purely terrible tanks. The only reason they win is pity wins.

have you checked vbaddict? cause i'm pretty sure those have lower than 50% winr ratio

I must give my Churchill Gun Carrier a few more outings.

I agree that the Matilda IV seems always to do a lot better than expected.  Excelsior I like a lot, but I'm only on 54% in it.

St Emil with the big gun is quite cute, but the grind on it made me allergic to it.

Pity wins.  Yes.  How true, how very true.  They are like the fat girl alone in the bar at 1 am.

I haven't checked vbaddict but it could be that all on the list are a bit weird and need a bit of time to get head around.

Churchill GC has an actual whomper of a gun at the top. I've played it quite a bit and it can sometimes carry a defensive match.

Matilda IV is an odd one, it does well despite it's obviously poor gun. Some unicum yesterday carried a tier 6 match in one somehow slaying Tiger 131s and KV1s and the like (I was in a Matilda IV too and he killed me)

Matilda BP I thought was generally regarded as a good tank, it's slow but a real slugger up close, you just gotta play it like the TOG, defensively. Speaking of TOG I got a Ace tanker with it last night and 7 kills fending off a load of guys at my base, it can be epic sometimes once you stay out of the open

Just had a random in which Balcora's Matida IV was up against my KV 220.  He was "training" and I was padding.  All his shots missed me.  Tragically the rigged MM was against me and despite taking 29 hits and blocking 2K in my 220 the team went down to a loss.

FCM Pak 36 - way too slow, way to less armor, still 72% winrate!

(just trolling)

Mmmm, can't count the Pak 36, that one was always agreed to be OP.  And the armour on it isn't bad either.

And now that Province has returned it has its metier once more

If they work then they are not crap. Some tanks have bad reputation for no good reason indeed.

I have Matilda IV as a keeper. It is genuinely a strong tank despite its reputation.

I have Valentine (the real, British one) as a keeper. I wouldn't say that it is particularly good, but it works and is somewhat unique in its "try to guess whether you'll be a HT, LT, or TD in this game" role, and I sometimes play it.

M6 - quite a monster once you figure out its role; I take it out sometimes when I feel like playing a mid-tier heavy with good mobility and comfortable gun handling.

I guess BDR is not universally recognised as bad, but it is certainly not everyone's taste. It used to be a pretty good tank, until it received a... big buff in this patch... dunno why. If you have it lying around in your garage then give it a try, it is outright OP now.

Some other unpopular tanks that proved to be pretty good but I didn't keep them:

DW2 - simply a really good easy to play tank.

M3 Lee - not that easy to play I guess, but very powerful once you figure its role out.

Panther - I'm not planning to keep this one forever but it will stay im my garage for quite some time. Super accurate gun with autoaimable AP penetration, decent ROF and gun dep, good view range, okay mobility, armour that is not quite reliable but in the end still bounces a lot. A powerful tank.

The old scout-matchmaking M5 Stuart received endless howling from people who wanted to kill ISes and T29s with it, but it actually made a pretty decent scout tank. No idea how it is doing now.

The Val is one of my lucky tanks.  Objectively it should be worse than the Matilda but it seems to do just as well.  Having a choice of three amazingly good guns (2lbr, 6lbr, 75mm) keeps it fresh, depending on how you want to play it.

There aren't many other Tier 4 tanks that can hose down an OI.

PZ IIIK - 88%

Only 8 battles in it tho:)

I actually quite like it - got a decent crew in it and it seems to suit me quite well.

If you enjoy a tank and it fits with your playstyle you will do good in it no matter whether it is objectively good or bad.

100% in the stock T25/2. Beat that.

I think the best example is either the AT 8 (83%) or the Panther (66%). Although I didn't think they were that awful.
