Wanted to share my 2 cents on Frontline.

Quick summary: I like the idea of the mode and at times it works. But after like 30 games, I couldn't get to like it anymore. I just feel like it gets repetitive in many ways.

Not only the format, I think the format is quite nice with the moving "frontline". But yeah, that gets old quite quickly too. And just the kind of tanks you meet, tier 8 is nothing but a premfest. Or T32 and T-44 fest. I just don't know.

It has the potential to be a fun mode but it couldn't take me to that level of enjoyment. Anyone has the same feel? Or am I just someone who should stop playing "special" modes because there weren't any I really liked?

I Grinded thru the prestige thing to unlock the last ribbon only to find myself asking... now what?

Sure i can still use it for credit grinding but other than that i don't see a whole much point playing it anymore.

I found this to be a real drag, defending A sector. First image is shortly after A is lost, 2nd. is when D is being capped. Needless to say we lost the whole flank in a relatively short timeframe;

I think everything in WoT is inherently repetitive. Of course a new mode will lose its "new shine" after a while.

Still liking Frontline better than normal randoms. Just hate that most people who play it, act like they're in a normal random. Far too much camping going on, people lemming-ing up the middle of an area, nobody bothering to cap 'cause that might actually achieve something, nobody bothering to defend 'cause you might lose hp... I'd like it a whole lot better if people were capable of a mentality switch.

I'll suffer anything for those credits.

The idea of Frontlines is to farm damage and assist.

Winning is not rewarded any more than losing.

The longer the battle goes on the better for everyone.

If there was more then one map, would be nice. But im having the same problem

Imo

1- Bring tank lock into it, Only for that one battle, So if you die in a T26E5 you cant use it for the rest of that game etc, Would make the variety in tanks much more interesting, exception to this can be T44 FL and T32 FL so if thats all you have you can still play, or if you run out of other tier 8s,

2- At least one more map, Main problem for me is that map was nice to start with but after playing it constantly, just boring now.

It might be that winning is not rewarded more than losing, but doing things that matter for objectives contribute disproportionally to your rewards.

Noticed this as well. Had a few low damage games where I focused hard on the objectives (capping them or defending them) and I ended up with plenty more XP then usual & higher rank too compared to higher damage games. So it does seem to reward people who play to achieve the objectives of the game.

Credits follow less suit, but I'm in it for the XP really.

I like the mode while the attackers are taking out the bases, but when it comes to having all the tanks in a small area there is so much going on that FPS drops too low to play... so I don't think I'll bother playing many games
(and don't blame my potato PC, normal randoms are on 100-110fps, Frontline at the end is on 12-15 FPS)

Already bored?

And people asking why it won't stay as permanent mode...

How about new maps with new mechanics? For example, VIP escort which was already tested in combat car mode.

Ban artillery from it IMO and those artillery consumables.

Basically puts everyone off from going for the cap, some risk free clicker bot gets free defend bots with zero skill, yah that is BS and no one bothers capping.

I wasn't played arty here but that arty mod is useful as well planes strike. I died so many time from arty fire but i don't mind, this is more fun.

I like the FrontLine idea and it is great for XP and credits. It is a bit flawed in that as soon as the defenders learn to push past the cap zone and flank the access routes, its nearly impossible for the attackers to cap. This is especially true for Zone C. I would like to see stats on who "won" the most times, attackers or defenders. If its not close to 50/50 then the mode is flawed.

I also found myself being an attacker on Zone A for 3 games in a row. How is that possible? Attacker/defender should be alternated AND the starting zones should be rotated.

If you want to advance quickly in ranks then cap/de-cap or assist others doing it. Doing damage also advances you but not as much as capping. Staying on cap for the full duration will give you more than one rank in advancement. e.g. Captain to Major. Load your heavy tank with a fully upgraded Engineering skill and go for cap from the start. I found that smoke, engineering and arty strike to be very useful.

You must work as a team. I have dropped smoke on cap in other zones than mine many times just to get the extra time.

Get a heavy on cap with fully upgraded engineering supported by a medium with inspire running while the arty drops smoke on the cap and the zones will fall quickly one by one.

Or make them tied directly to battle performace, rather than simple consumables

would love a tactical nuke ;)

I can play two or three, before frustration at the stupid sets in;

As with randoms, 70% of the team don't do a lot. Content to drive about, fire the gun sometimes, and then die in the open.

The newer Tier 8.5 premiums are hugely superior to the older stuff - Skorpion and Lorr especially so.

People gold spamming in Löwes fer chrissakes

I've just watched our team ignore the last objective on 400hp to drive right past it to go for one on full health.

T-44 FL armour is magic

Patriot gun can't hit or pen anything

Also, the meta has kinda settled in now, and it's pretty much

- 252U/Defender/IS-3/6 on attack

-Skorpion on defence

- Progettos everywhere

-Gold spamming Löwes

With a sprinkling of other types, and occasionally someone playing something eclectic like 59-Patton, KJpz, or FCM.

What are you using to get that kind of silver?  Ive ended many times with better damage/assist and use or armor and most im getting now is around 200-250k profit in very good win...mostly its ~130-160silver. I use frogetto, jg8.8 or t92 in a mix of standard tanks and even with 50% credit buff not even close to that silver.... and again compared to your pics ending game similar starts or even better, yet getting 2x less silver.

But to topic - frontline has to change alot to be more fun. First of all - disable ability to change sides and after teams capped all line of bases or lost, only after that to defend cannons they can change teams.  Frontline has to have atleast three maps to be a bit more random.   If they make restrictions to fk up game for others when 3-5 [edited]decide to join other teams after first fail, then Frontline would be a bit more interesting....
