Hi there all!

I very recently bought a T28 Prototype and since I never went through the other american TD line I only have the stock gun. It has 170 penetration which is of course completely inadequate to face any kind of heavy at the same tier and since the tier 8 matchmacking is **** at the moment you tend get into tier 10 games a lot, tier 9 if you're lucky. So I'm asking to you, more experienced players, how do you play being constanlty bottom tier in a slow machine, that have armor only on paper (t10 and 9 can pen you frontally without gold) and with a gun that can reliably pen lights only?

In short: how would you play a stock T28 Prot against the recent flood of 268 v4 and 430U?

Well, You won't enjoy the stock grind but it is what it is. You can always try to snipe with it. Turtle it into medium tank positions and try flanking shots but iirc the stock grind wasn't easy for me neither. With the top gun I played it just like pretty much any (support)heavy. Smack people when they're reloading with your 250-ish pen which is sufficient for most enemies you'll face if you know where to shoot.

Be ready to use some APCR and take advatage of the fact the manyenemies will assume you have the long reload of the 120mm.

Don't have the tank but the problem is fairly universal. Either free exp a usable gun or set premium ammo as primary on the stock gun. Or a preferable combination of these.

I endured the pain. The 105 is already good enought to became useful thanks to the really fast aim time and DPM. The 120mm is really good, but the tank itself is meh... too slow with bad armour layout. Hope T-30 is good. At least turret looks stronger than T28 one...

I'm getting through the the grind now. Not really enjoying this one - it's slow, the armour doesn't really work, and the top gun is ok. I think you have to make sure you keep up with the battle, whilst keeping back in support so you don't become a target. It's not awful, but I'll be glad to sell it.

I bought today the t28 prot.Luckily had unlocked the 105mm from T25AT. Tank look like a pooper but you can grind it in frontline until you get the top gun.I have like 5 apcr if im desperate to decap a defender or something.XP is not that good because you are too slow to farm dmg(relocating) and you are magnet for every arty strike in the game.Still rather play it in frontline and make silver than shoot apcr in randoms trying to pen HTs... 100% xp reserves and captain/major+ games can do the job.

you don't.  free exp to the next gun.  the stock gun is worthless.

"Don't rush the tiers" is probably the best advice for you.

The way I did that grind was going for the T25 AT, get the 105, sell it, then go for the proto.

The tank is rather slow and the armour can feel quite lacking at times, but it has a punchy gun with good DPM(mind you, my only full girl crew is in the then proto now T30) Believe me, it is not as bad as people say!
