No need.

I've taken it out twice since 1.0 landed.

I actually have both battles right here:

http://wotreplays.eu...loaded_at.desc/

It's an incredibly capable tank.

I'd say it's still one of the strongest Tier IVs, with it's only bad point being the lack of speed. Remember when they did those Historical Battles and the Sand River one most people were trying to queue up in Matildas and would just sit in that one corner because it made their speed problem irrelevant and it was nigh impossible for the German team to really deal with them most of the time? :P

If you can't see what's so good about a 1.8s reload and 121mm AP penetration on tier 4 where most tanks of your tier will struggle to pen you in return, I'm not sure what to say. I'd like it to have the same engine as the Matilda IV so that it could at least accelerate a bit quicker but it's pretty good as it is.

I call mine Creeping Death; slowly but relentlessly advancing and pew-pewing all the way. :playing:

121 pen, enough to smack anything it faces. Armor that idiot proof when top tier.. high ROF and fine enough DPM. What's not to like? Well the tier 4 anyway.

As for the tier 5's, since it's those you own by the looks of it. Still fairly capable tanks. I still love my Russian Matilda. And I have no issues steam rolling with it now and then and getting 2K + damage games, as it's currently training it's 8th crew from 75% "Tier IX 430 crew" with over 630 games under her belt. Still rolling with a 62% WR and 600 more average damage then yours. Not bad for a full 102mm of pay 2 win ammo. Tho.. it could use an AP buff. 86 average AP pen will only get you that far at times. But since it's AP pen is only 86. It's way less forgiving then anything at that tier. Thus I never recommend it as someones first mid tier premium.

Matilda Black Prince is a bit more situational with it's less bouncy turret and the less ideal long range support dpm. But close the distance, or flank something. You just need to hold the button down until it's dead. Still works in the current meta. I really should get around to 3 MOE it as it's a fun tank now and then. Does it need any buffs? DPM is still fairly high for a tier 5 med, pen is more then enough. Still better off on most gun aspects vs the Ram II. But it lacks mobility vs it. So IMO an aim time buff and a shell speed buff would compensate for it.

Heh.  In that case it's just ironic that the OP starts this thread the same day Jingles shows a game with one getting 9 kills and 2.5k damage.

Whenever I've played it, I just fell victim to the Churchill syndrome: when you finally get to where the fight is, it's already over. So you're either going to score 0 for the game, or you'll be shot to pieces by the bunch of enemies who just finished off your teammates.

It used to have to great features and one bad feature:

Good:

  1. Gun. Such a great rate of fire, with good accuracy and penetration. Still a good feature.
  2. Armour. In tier 4 a lot of tanks had trouble penetrating you. Less so in my opinion.

Bad:

  1. Speed. But then again, just get used to it, as it isn't going to be better down the line.

I can still do great battle in it, though I'm hardly taking it out for a ride anymore. The slow speed is getting to me, after playing the British HT and original TD line ;)

I might be the only fan of the Matilda BP.

OP's opinion of the Matilda might be influenced by the problem that on average he has managed to get in 2 penetrating shots per game when using it.

I've suggested previously that he post some replays somewhere and get some suggestions and tips on gameplay because something is going badly wrong somehow with all his games, not just the Matilda.

I think all Matilda's are really good. Ok, they are slow, but they have some armor and the dpm is amazing. You can rip through an enemy team in no time.

Remember when they did those Historical Battles...

Waiting 5min. to get back in garage? Yes I remember.

Well, I must say that it was historically accurate. War is mostly waiting.

The Matilda BP is not very popular but if you think of it as a slow turreted TD it's quite effective, especially as it has PMM.  I have the same win rate in it (58%) as in the regular Matilda.

I can think of it as something I rip quickly at distance without being spotted in my SU-85I. Even if I were in it's face, I'd still leave it at 20-40% hp.

Point is,the tanks' so bad, that it has no alpha, nor it has DPM that it can trade with. You're better off using Churchill III for the same reasons.

The Matilda BP's DPM of 2000+ isn't bad for a Tier 5 and the pen is good.  Where it scores over the SU-85I - which is also good - is that it has a turret, so once in position it's quite handy

Oh guess what, I have 700 DPM of difference, similarly to SU-122-44,except the latter has less scenarios where it can make it work.

Think of the former as E 25 two tiers below, and you got a fairly broken tank, that can wreck anything in the tier range it meets, with several rare exceptions.
