As the title says, which tank is best for what and what's the difference? Also which one do you prefer?

I think E100 has no special purpose comparing to Maus. It's just worse.

So maus is just better than E 100 in every aspect?

I personally would probably pick E100 over Maus for random battles, main reason being that I really dislike slow tanks, also 750 alpha gun comes in really handy in a heavy tank stand off.

I only got the Maus when it was OP for the purpose of Clan War and Stronghold, ironically I never got to use it in those events. I very much disliked every moment of Maus grind, from T8 and up it was a pure agony.

VK 100.01 is probably the worst T8 heavy out of the ones I played. On paper you're basically impenetrable for lower tier tanks, problem is you don't really get to see those very often these days. Against big tanks your armor holds up pretty good at range, but as soon as you come closer where your inaccurate gun is actually effective, you may as well have no armor what so ever.

Mauschen on T9 is actually slower than a Maus, that really killed it for me, on top of that the shape of the turret does not allow for effective turret angling.

As for Maus itself, armor is really good, there's no question about it, but the speed is a massive limiting factor.

E-100 has decent speed for a big armored tank. It also has that scary big alpha gun. The advantage of big damage guns is you got to expose your armor less for trading shots. Also the high damage & large caliber means that HE shells on this gun are a decent option when required. In short, E-100 has the best allround gun on ammo choices, always an ammo choice available to combat any situation. AP for standard targets, HEAT for those armored bastards & HE for flimsy armored or well dug in tanks.

Maus is slow, very slow, but does have considerable armor at all sides, making it a pain to damage, even with prem ammo in play. The gun is reliable & can snapshot fairly well, allowing you to expose your unangled turret front less.

Mainly a choice on what you prefer; If you aren't fond of slow tanks, best don't pick Maus, it is real slow.

More or less what UrQuan said.

Maus is heavily armoured and, when angled, it can be really hard to pen. Also the gun is quite good in terms of gun handling, but pen is low for the tier.

E100, on the other hand, it's faster sacrificing some armour. So it's harder to angle effectively. The gun packs a really high alpha (750) with a really good ammo selection.

AP have same pen of the one from the maus, but the bigger caliber allows you to overmatch more plate.

HEAT have a nice 334 pen value, so are a valuable choice for hard target.

HE are really good too, because can damage even hulldown tanks.

Personally, I'm going up the E100 line, cause I really like the high alpha gun and find the speed armour balance good enought for my standard.

I have Maus, it's nice. It's not uncommon to bounce 4000-8000 damage in a match. When you play it you must roleplay as an aggrieved midget in a wheelchair, windmilling into his foes

Both are heat magnet trash, its naturally, cuz germans.. you know. But i prefer the e100, i have it as well better gun than the maus, better mobility, and nowadays that small armor different doesnt matter. But if you angle it e100 also really good.

Have played the E100 a lot (was my first t10 heavy), not with much success.

I ve bought the Maus much more recently and have like 10 battles in it.

Both are pretty meh I think nowadays, WZ 111-5A, IS7 or Sup. Conq. to name just a few are straight out better IMO.
